It’s not been that long of a road since its introduction, and already the entry-level Mercedes-EQ vehicle, the EQA, is available for order.

This electric version of the GLA was shown in full in January this year, promising a range of 486 km (310 miles, as measured under NEDC) and an output of 190 PS (188 hp) coming from the electric motor. That setup is the one provided for the EQA 250, whose starting price was announced today as being €47,540.50 in Germany (the equivalent of about $57,000 at today’s exchange rates).

Given how Germany is a hotbed for electric drivetrains, there are enough incentives there to bring the price of the car all the way down to €37,970.50 ($45,400), leaving enough room for buyers to play around with their savings. And there are a lot of things to be added to the stock EV, the most important of which being the Electric Art and Edition 1.

Electric Art is a €940 ($1,125) package that adds a special color for the upholstery and on the air vents, back-lit trim elements, and 18-inch light-alloy wheels.

The more pompous Edition 1 will be available for a limited time (Mercedes does not say how long that is), and it is much more expensive. It adds €8,520 ($10,200) to the price of the naked model, but a longer list of exclusive appointments as well. They include elements of the Night Package with AMG body styling, blue decorative topstitching in the seats and doors, and a complex pattern of perforations in the leather seats.

For the British market, the EQA will be available in 250 Sport and AMG Line, with prices set at £40,495 and £41,995, respectively. For this market, extras include the Premium package (19-inch wheels, panoramic glass sunroof, Keyless-Go Comfort package, augmented reality navigation system for an extra £3,000) and Premium Plus. The latter adds 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels, the parking package with camera, and MBUX, all for an additional £6,000.

EQA 250 is the first model in the family to be launched, but Mercedes is planning others. There will be an all-wheel-drive variant capable of developing 272 PS (268 hp), and another one with a longer range, somewhere over 500 km (310 miles, WLTP).

The current model is available for order as of now (February 4), and it is expected on dealership floors at the beginning of spring.
