Mercedes-Benz Vision E Idea Hypothetically Brings Back To Life E-Class Coupe

The pixel-LED-illuminated and rather enormous grille introduced by Mercedes-Benz with the new GLC featuring EQ Technology is likely to remain with the brand for a long while. While it doesn’t necessarily look as glorious as Mercedes envisioned for the series-production crossover SUV, it’s absolutely stunning when showcased on a concept car.
 
The first example of a good application of the new pixel LED grille was the Mercedes-Benz Vision Iconic, a true grand tourer that looked like it belonged during the 1920s and 2030s at the same time. That’s because the Mercedes-Benz Vision Iconic grand tourer two-door coupe is a retro-modern creation, labeled as an interpretation of the iconic Gullwing, Pullman limousines, and the W108 series, among others.
 
It’s a very good interpretation of those classic designs, and it even comes with an interior that evokes the early days of coach-inspired and coach-built automobiles. But it’s not going into production anytime soon, of course – it’s just an exercise in design to show the possibilities of the new styling paradigm. However, many people, especially members of the imaginative guild of digital car content creators residing across the parallel universes of vehicular CGI, felt compelled to envision the future of Mercedes based on its appearance.
 
Naturally, most of them crafted the next-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class limousine and GLS full-size crossover SUV based on the Vision Iconic, feeling that only the flagships are deserving of the new design language. In contrast, one virtual artist, Mehran Cheraghi, a Persian Industrial and Transportation Design alumnus, known as ‘mehrancheraghy’ on social media, has envisioned a future Mercedes EV that would be slightly more accessible to the masses.
 

Meet the unofficial, hypothetical Mercedes-Benz Vision-E design project, a potential vision to revive the Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe to embrace the all-electric future. It comes with the massive pixel LED grille and star-LED headlights, but the proportions diverge from the Vision Iconic – the Vision-E is bulkier and clearly has space for four CGI adults in the cockpit.
 
The profile is smooth and inviting, while the hood naturally flows into the big grille and joins forces with the funky LED DRLs. On the other hand, the rear is unlike any official Mercedes proposal – the 3D bumper resembles part of a shield assembly, and the slim LED taillights extend to the sides into the massive rear fender flare.
 
Unfortunately, we don’t know anything about the interior, aside from the color, and there’s no hint about what’s under the hood, either. However, our best guess, judging by the closed grille and the lack of exhaust pipes, is that we’re dealing with an all-electric concept, as is tradition nowadays. So, what do you think?
