Mercedes EQE has just passed the 360-degree environmental check. The premium car maker has been making public the results of such info, in compliance with the ISO 14021 standard for the past 17 years.

Experts analyzed production of the high-voltage battery, as well as external charging processes during vehicle operation. The standard scenario focuses on country-specific power mi for charging the unit and production of battery cells. A regenerative scenario instead focuses on energy from renewable sources used in each case. In both, they consider a mileage of 250,000 kilometers (155,343 miles).

By building battery cells using renewable sources (hydroelectric power) in China and charging power in the European plants, the CO2 emissions level will be almost halved.

What makes the Mercedes EQE so efficient and simplifies its mission to pass the environmental check? One of the first factors to consider is its drag coefficient of only 0,22.

Furthermore, 78.3 kilograms (173 pounds) consisting of 184 components can partly include resource-saving materials, such as recycled plastics and renewable raw materials.

Mercedes has also used the cobalt percentage in the cell chemistry. Now the unit sports a nickel, cobalt, and manganese ratio of 8:1:1.

Most of the suppliers of the carmaker are signers of an Ambition Letter. They thus declare their commitment to only supply parts that they produce in a CO2-neutral manner in the future. Mercedes has been producing passenger cars and vans worldwide on a CO2-neutral basis.

Furthermore, since 2021, Mercedes-Benz has been motivating customers to use the Mercedes me Charge app across Europe. Certificates of origin prove that corresponding amounts of green electricity are supplied into the grid after the actual charging procedure.

The Mercedes EQE is already available for order in the United States and starts at $74,900. For the price, the customer takes home the entry-level version, the EQE 350+ with the 90.6-kWh battery pack and a rear-mounted electric motor. The unit is good for 292 PS (288 HP) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque.
