2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Spied Hiding Important Details

Mercedes-Benz is a step closer to the reveal of the next-generation AMG GT, evidenced by a prototype caught by our spies wearing thinner camouflage than before. It’s looking ready for production, which means a debut is likely happening soon, presumably at the International Motor Show Germany in September.
 

A previous sighting at the Nurburgring confirmed a V8 mill for the next GT, while also giving us a brief preview of the upcoming AMG GT 63 S E Performance coupe. Now it’s time to take a closer look at the details that the scarce concealments are trying to hide.
 
The camo on the front fascia of this red prototype has completely revealed the grille, while still keeping the juicy headlight details under wraps.
 
However, the vertical gills on the corners are prominent, as well as the lower grille they house in between.
 

Of note, the front end is reminiscent of the Mercedes-AMG SL, which isn’t a surprise considering that the AMG GT will share a lot with the roadster except for the roof – and yes, that includes the interior with rear seats for the grand tourer.
 
The similarities will change upon looking at the almost completely naked side profile. While the overall appearance of the sides – like the doors, character lines, mirrors, and door handles – mimics those of the open-top AMG, the AMG GT differs with vertical vents on the front fender. The massive brakes are also visible from the side, housed by a set of black rims.
 

There’s a lot to talk about at the rear, primarily with the wing. Previous sightings showed a fixed rear wing on a prototype, while those lapping at the Nurburgring got an active type opened throughout the test. The one caught by our spies has its wing in the closed position.
 
Other details at the back include quad-exhaust tips that serve as speakers for the V8 soundtrack. A not-so-aggressive-looking diffuser on the lower bumper is also present on all the prototypes we’ve seen so far.
 
We’re expecting a number of variants of the AMG GT coupe upon its arrival, including the top-spec 63 S E Performance that should be powered by the 831-horsepower plug-in hybrid 4.0-liter V8 from the AMG GT 4-Door – the most potent AMG powertrain ever produced (after the exotic AMG One).
