The AMG in-line six powered CLE 53 might be the hottest version of Mercedes’ two-door coupe you can buy right now, but it’s about to be joined by not one – but two heavy hitters courtesy of Affalterbach. We recently saw teasers of a new CLE-based Mythos – AMG’s series of top, limited models – but now we’ve got pictures of another AMG-powered CLE.

New spy shots show another AMG CLE prototype, which CAR understands is a CLE 63 under all the camouflage. What’s more, it’ll return to Affalterbach’s bread and butter – at least when it comes to 63 models – so it’ll be packing a flat-plane V8 under the hood. One giveaway is the beefed-up air intakes, created for the new engine’s increased cooling demands.
Both the CLE AMG 63 and the more beastly Mythos are both set to use a bi-turbo V8 lump, and the latter will be able to crank out around 640bhp. Expect a bit less for the 63 pictured here, but hopefully not too much less.
What else is there?
The camo isn’t doing too much, and we can still see some star-shaped DRLs within the headlights. That sets this model apart from the current CLE, but ties in with Mercedes’ current styling direction – as seen on the GLC EV, for example.

There’s no change at the rear yet, but CAR understands the AMG’s flared wheelarches will be packed on in later mules. We won’t see anything as extravagant as the DTM-style rear wing of the Mythos, but the CLE 63 will certainly be imposing.
What about inside?
Inside we’re expecting the latest iteration of Stuttgart’s wheel, though it’ll be joined by a cutting-edge version of MBUX. As seen in the new GLC, the latest version of Mercedes’ software is embedded with AI services such as Microsoft’s co-pilot as well as Google’s Gemini.
The CLE 63 should appear in official form towards the beginning of 2027. We’ll update this article when we know more.
