The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class plug-in hybrid is now available also with all-wheel drive. The premium carmaker has also expanded the abilities of the MBUX system. Just as new is the fact that the car comes for the first time with a leather-free interior.

Customers can now order the Mercedes-Benz S 580 e 4MATIC as a short- or as a long-wheelbase variant. Prices start at 130,638.20 euros.

The model gets an electric drive output of 150 horsepower and an electric range of over 100 kilometers by the WLTP standard. The hybrid system integrates the six-cylinder in-line M 256 engine with 367 horsepower as well. The peak torque of 480 Nm is available right from the start. The luxury sedan can drive at speeds of up to 140 km/h with zero emissions.

There is an 11 kW charger on board as standard for three-phase charging from the AC network. Customers can also tick the box for the 60 kW DC charger for fast charging with direct current. The battery can fully charge in approximately 30 minutes.

Mercedes-Benz has also updated the MBUX system, integrating the zero-layer design. Thus the driver will not have to browse through the submenus or give voice commands. Instead, the most important applications will be visible on the top level, according to the situation and context. This means that the display and the operating concept are fully adaptable to the user, providing personalized suggestions. The one behind the wheel will get in the direct field of vision more than 20 functions that are relevant at a certain moment.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class Plug-in Hybrid also gets more customization options
With the new Manufaktur customization options, it is easier for future owners to personalize their cars. They get seven exclusive paintwork options for extra 5,900 euros. For 9,250 euros, there are also five new versions of the Premium Package that offer new interior color combinations.

The Platinum Emblem Package and Gold Emblem Package bring platinum- or gold-colored logos. They also include ambient lighting with animated projection of the respective pattern for 1,750 euros.

The premium carmaker now offers a roof liner with diamond-pattern embroidery and a center panel in five special colors.

For the first time, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is also available with a completely leather-free interior. Door trim, instrument panel, center console and steering wheel sport the ARTICO man-made artificial leather. Meanwhile, fabric covers the seating areas.

The Urban Guard includes safety and protection services. The extended package also offers laminated safety glass with thermal and noise insulation for extra protection against vandalism and theft.
