Mercedes-Benz EQG The Electric G A Real G By Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been a staple in the three-pointed star marque’s key offerings going all the way back to the 1970s. From its major updates in the early part of the 1990s and 2018, it hasn’t changed much since. However, with the electrification efforts of its maker in full gear, it’s about to introduce a new spin to the range with the Electric G model, or what we currently know as the Mercedes-Benz EQG. Recently, none other than the company’s big man himself, CEO Ola Källenius, showed us what’s coming from the all-new SUV.

In the company’s official upload on YouTube, the Mercedes-Benz boss took the Electric G-Class for a trek at the Schöckl mountain in Austria to subtly tease us about its off-road driving capabilities. After some hype talk centering on the electrified SUV, which does not really reveal details that we already know of based on recent spy shots and reports, he capped off the presentation with a display of the auto’s much-anticipated 360-degree turn ability, also known as the “tank turn.” All it took was a press of a button and the left paddle behind the steering wheel to activate it.

Not much was revealed about the cabin of the Electric G during the shoot because the interior camera’s lens was strategically positioned to hide the dash. And for a good measure, all of it, including the central console, was covered by a black fabric. All we could see from the angle of the take were the beautifully layered, premium leather seats of the SUV and its sunroof.

The Electric G or EQG is designed to give fans of the G-Class an electrified option based on the EQG Concept when it launches in the early part of 2024. Mind you, this is not meant to replace the G-Wagen. Well, at least for the near future.
