The facelifted Mercedes C-Class is rumored to debut this summer and spy photographers recently got up close with a prototype.

Snapped taking a break from cold weather testing, the updated sedan doesn’t look too remarkable but it embraces ‘star power.’ As a result, the model has been equipped with star-infused head- and taillights. We can also expect a new grille and air intake treatment, which could be star-ified as well.

Speaking of the grille, it could be larger than its predecessor. That remains to be seen, but the facelifted S-, GLE, and GLS lineups have adopted a supersized schnozz.

Additional changes are limited, but we can see updated door mirrors with new C-shaped lighting units. We also wouldn’t be surprised if the model was outfitted with restyled wheels.

While the GLE and GLS adopted a new MBUX Superscreen, the C-Class appears to retain its familiar 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 11.9-inch infotainment system. That being said, the latter will likely run the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System and sport an AI-infused personal assistant.

Putting the displays aside, we can see an updated steering wheel with revised switchgear. The facelift could also usher in some trim and upholstery changes.

More notably, the sedan will likely be offered with the new MB.Drive Assist Pro system. It’s an advanced Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving system that debuted on the CLA and allows for hands-free navigation in cities.

Under the hood, we can expect a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder developing 255 hp (190 kW / 259 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. Other markets will offer additional options including an assortment of diesels in Europe.

More interestingly, the C43 should give way to a new C53 variant sporting a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 443 hp (330 kW / 449 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. That would be a significant improvement over the current turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that pumps out 416 hp (310 kW / 422 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm).
