Mercedes SL is one of the icons of the automotive industry. The new generation developed by AMG on the new MSA (Modular Sports Architecture) platform returns to the 2 + 2 seats configuration. The last SL with 2 + 2 seats configuration was SL R129 presented in 1989.
The second row of seats can be used by people up to 1.50 meters tall or for storing luggage. Sports seats are standard, with performance seats available as an option. Customers can choose single or two-tone nappa leather, particularly nappa style leather with diamond stiching or nappa leather combined with Dynamic race microfiber and contrasting topstiching in yellow and red. As with other SL generations, the seats have integrated headrests.
The dashboard is perfectly symmetrical and the new galvanized turbine nozzles stand out. The instrument cluster is displayed on a 12.3-inch display. The multimedia system takes over the screen in portrait format from S-Class and C-Class and has a diagonal of 11.9 inches. To avoid reflections caused by sunlight, the screen can be electrically adjusted to a more vertical position.
As with other AMG models, there is a button for adjusting the driving modes on the right arm of the steering wheel.
The multimedia system uses the second generation MBUX interface which has been supplemented with specific AMG menus. For example, the Performance and Track Pace menus also appear. There will be also a head-up display about which Mercedes says it displays relevant cues and actions three-dimensionally in the real driving situation and surroundings.
For official exterior pictures of the Mercedes-AMG SL we will have to wait until October 28.
But we know that Mercedes SL returns to the solution with a soft-top roof and from the last masked photos we can see the Panamericana grille, the thin headlights that go down to the grille and the much lower body of the car conferred by the new sports platform.
