Are you thinking about going to a cosplay convention as a dictator, a head of state, or perhaps a drug lord who does not know how many people work for him and how much money he has buried all over the country? If this idea sounds brilliant, then why not arrive there in style in something that is bound to make you visible right from the start?

You do know what we are talking about, don’t you? Yep, that would be a car, though it’s not your run-of-the-mill car, either, but a very special Mercedes. You are looking at the rare and extremely luxurious Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Pullman Guard, a ride that makes even the mighty Rolls-Royce Phantom pale in comparison. This machine is very imposing, and that’s not all, as it has the ability to save your life if you suddenly find yourself surrounded by someone cosplaying your biggest enemy at the said event.

Want to delve more into this aspect? Well, as you probably know, the Guard in its name stands for ballistic protection. Therefore, you are looking at an armored car with a reinforced passenger compartment. It has extra-thick windows all around, plates in the floor, and likely a reinforced roof, too. The level of ballistic protection is none other than VR9, so this luxury personnel carrier on normal wheels can withstand gunfire and small explosive devices long enough so your chauffeur can make an exit.

The listing, because this Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Pullman Guard is for sale, reveals that it packs many goodies, including the sun protection package, air quality package, exclusive package, light package, pre-safe rear package, seat comfort package, rear-seat entertainment package, and many other packages. It also comes with individual rear seats, four of them to be more precise. The ones facing backward can fold their base away when not needed, thus increasing the legroom for the other two passengers.

Other gear includes the universal telephone package, a rear-seat climate control, climatized front seats, a heated steering wheel, air conditioning at the front and rear, a night-view system, automatic high beams, folding tables at the rear, dynamic LED headlights, a rear-seat entertainment system complete with a remote, a DVD changer, digital TV, magic vision control, ambient lighting, and many other features.

Due to its gargantuan size, as it basically a stretched version of the regular Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, this S 650 Pullman Guard is immediately visible. The exterior color of such a thing can only be black, if you have any self esteem, that is, and the vehicle in question checks this box. It also features the usual chrome details on the outside, normal wheels shod in run-flat tires, and a beige interior with extremely fine leather upholstery, black piping, more black details, and some wood trim.

What does this vehicle use under the hood? Well, none other than a V12 engine, which is part of a dying breed, sadly. The motor has a 6.0-liter displacement and features twin turbos. It develops 621 brake horsepower (630 ps/463 kW) and 738 pound-feet (1,000 Nm) of torque. However, the vendor says it has 523 hp (530 ps/390 kW), though that is probably a typo (5 instead of 6 for the metric output). As for the combined fuel consumption, it is said to be 11.4 mpg US (20.6 l/100 km).

Without any ballistic protection, the normal model can reach 62 mph (100 kph) in a very respectable 6.5 seconds. However, the added weight of the reinforced metal and extra-thick windows, alongside other things, has made the Guard variant much heavier. Therefore, it should also be significantly slower than the non-armored car. Still, we cannot tell you what the official acceleration time is, as this vehicle is not exactly a sprinter disguised as a massive luxury sedan, or limo, if you may.

This Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Pullman Guard, with its Obsidian Black Metallic exterior and Nappa leather interior, has only 4,400 miles (7,100 km) or so under its belt. We’d love to know its previous owner, though that information is unavailable. Still, it is a new vehicle, nonetheless, that does not appear to have any flaws. If it had, then they would have been mended by the vendor, a famous used car dealer specialized in selling all kinds of exclusive and extremely expensive rides.

The six-seater armored machine is said to have been first registered in June 2018, and is currently looking for a new home. How much is such a thing worth? Seven digits, obviously. The asking price at the time of writing was €1,428,000, including tax, which comes out to almost $1.7 million at today’s exchange rate. This Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Pullman Guard is located on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, though it is available for worldwide export. You can check it out here on Hollmann International.
