Mercedes used to experiment with all sorts of versions of the old G-Wagen, which is why we now have two-door and open-top body styles of this iconic SUV, as well as something that the three-pointed star brand hasn’t offered in a decade: a 6×6.

Officially named the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6×6, as the Affalterbach brand wasn’t fully integrated into Mercedes back then, this model was manufactured by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, which is also where the new-age G-Wagen comes to life. It was a longer, taller, and much more ferocious-looking version of the G 63 AMG from that era, and between 2013 and 2015, it is estimated that around 100 or so examples rolled off the line.
A normal Mercedes-AMG G 63 (and Benz G-Class) measures a little over 182 inches (4,625 mm) from bumper to bumper, is 76 inches (1,931 mm) wide, and 78.2 inches (1,986 mm) tall, and tips the scales at around two and a half tons (~5,500 pounds). This applies to the new generation, whereas the older G 63 AMG 6×6 was 231.3 inches (5,875 mm) long, 83.1 inches (2,110 mm) wide, and 87 inches (2,210 mm) tall. As for the curb weight, it exceeded four metric tons (~9,000 pounds).
A transfer case was also on deck, and keep in mind that it’s not a show-and-tell kind of ride, as it features a ladder-frame construction and a low-range gearbox. Mated to the 5.5-liter bi-turbocharged V8 engine was a seven-speed automatic transmission that deployed the power to all six wheels. The six-wheel drive vehicle had 536 brake horsepower (400 kW/544 ps) and 561 pound-feet (761 Nm) of torque to play with. Its top speed was capped at 100 mph (160 kph), and it took around 8 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 kph).

The spec sheet revealed that the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6×6 has two fuel tanks that have a maximum capacity of 42 gallons or 159 liters. It is a double-cab pickup truck that features massive tires wrapped around the new wheels, fender flares, a horizontal bar at the rear attached to the chassis that prevents cars rear-ending it from ending up under that massive body, and a high-end, posh leather interior, because it is a G-Wagen after all, albeit one that looks like it was born for the apocalypse.
In this case, the monstrous six-wheel drive machine that we recently encountered on the used car market is presented in Designo Mystic White, sits on 18-inch light alloy wheels, and has Designo brown leather upholstery, as well as carbon fiber trim. It boasts stuff such as a sliding sunroof, an Alcantara headliner, a rear-seat entertainment system, two individual captain’s chairs at the rear, Stainless Steel Pack, Seat Comfort Pack, and ambient lighting.
If that is not plenty to quench your thirst for special gizmos, you should also know that this Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6×6 comes with a Harman Kardon sound system, a heated windscreen, an auxiliary heater, tinted windows, a garage door opener, heated seats, power running boards, and lots of other goodies. The listing reveals that it still rocks the standard firepower, so Brabus or other tuners that used to have their way with this model back in the day hasn’t modified the 5.5L V8 bi-turbo engine.
According to the online ad, that’s not the strong point of the pictured vehicle, which was first registered in January of 2014. The ride in question has a single owner in the papers who refrained from driving it during the last twelve years. We kid you not, as the odometer is said to reveal only 220 kilometers or around 135 miles.

As a result, it is still a brand-new ride. There is a strong chance that it might retain that new-car smell, and in our book, it is worthy of sitting in a collection. However, we’d thrash it on a dirt road immediately after taking delivery, as it doesn’t really deserve to be forgotten somewhere in a climate-controlled garage, breathing the same life as other ultra-pricey cars, does it?
Nowadays, the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6×6 is valued at anywhere between $900,000 and $1,500,000, depending on a number of factors, including the mileage and overall appearance. And since this is a brand-new vehicle, you might expect it to be a seven-digit affair, don’t you? Well, it is not, as we found it advertised on Hollmann International for €845,000. This equaled a hair over $975,000 at the time of writing, which, by brand-new G 63 AMG 6×6 status, makes it quite affordable.
Do you want to spruce up your collection with the pictured ride, or perhaps blow your life savings away on it? We are not financial advisors, but gearheads, so we won’t stop you from doing so. Interested parties can check out this Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6×6 on the quoted website here.
