Somehow, Carlex Design has become our favorite tuner when it comes to the new-age Mercedes G-Wagen, as its different collections have given the automotive world some extremely cool-looking projects, like this Sky Vintage.

If you think that you have seen it somewhere, you are not wrong, as we actually wrote about it at the beginning of the year. However, the build in question recently starred in a new photoshoot, and since it is one heck of a vehicle both inside and out, we decided to shared these images with you, while reminding you about some of the stuff that makes the premium truck stand out from the crowd.
As its name implies, the main color that was used on the lower parts of the body, as well as the wheels to some extent, was inspired by the sky. The blue hue is joined by black on the roof and pillars. More of the latter can be seen on the front and rear bumpers, side steps, mirror casings, and wheels. A pinstripe-like element in chrome and more of the shiny trim can also be seen on the outside.

Anyone who is slightly familiar with the modern-day Mercedes-AMG G 63 knows that the two bumpers are new and that the wheel arches have been significantly extended as part of the aftermarket makeover process. The Panamericana grille is gone, and Carlex Design’s logo proudly decorates the new component. Instead of two tailpipes in front of each rear wheel, the Sky Vintage has three of them. It also sports a custom spare wheel holder attached to the rear door, and rides on exclusive wheels wrapped in dedicated tires.
Opening the door will reveal the redone cockpit, which is pretty much where Carlex Design shines. Light blue is the color that dominates it, as it can be seen on most touchable surfaces. The tuner has reshaped the seats and has added its logo on the seatbacks and headrests, whereas the three-spoke steering wheel that sports lots of buttons retains the three-pointed star emblem.

The firepower carries over with no changes whatsoever, and this means 577 brake horsepower on tap. The output translates to 430 kilowatts and 585 metric horsepower, and the thrust is rated at 627 pound-feet or 850 Nm of torque. The Affalterbach brand’s ubiquitous 4.0L V8 motor allows the standard Mercedes-AMG G 63 to sprint to 62 mph (100 kph) in just four and a half seconds.
Carlex Design continues to use the Sky Vintage as a marketing tool before parting ways with it. In plain large tuner fashion, the company hasn’t released the pricing details, though you’d be gullible to think that it costs less than seven digits. After all, just look at it!
