These vintage Mercedes G-Wagon and W124 station wagon builds are both amazing and reasonably priced.

While we love our modern vehicles, there are many reasons why automotive enthusiasts tend to live in the past – older cars are simpler, easier to work on, and in many cases, more reliable than certain new cars. This is true of Mercedes-Benz, which not terribly long ago made cars that quite literally lasted forever, machines that were built like literal tanks. Now, fans of some of those classic machines – specifically, older Mercedes G-Wagon and W124 station wagon models – can buy amazing examples of them from a company called Arrows, which is based out of Kawasaki, Japan.

Arrows takes old Mercedes G-Wagons and W124 station wagons – only those particular models, for now, at least – and treats them to a makeover of varying degrees, depending on what customers are looking for. This process can include something as simple as a fresh paint job, recovered plaid interior, rebuilt mechanicals, and super cool, old school wheel caps or black steel wheels for anywhere between $31,000-$53,000.

Customers can choose from some cool, classic Mercedes hues such as Light Ivory, Rodeo Gray, and Pueblo Beige, giving their vintage ride a proper retro look, which Arrows lays down over straightened bodywork and reconditioned plastics. The interior is full of options as well, as customers can opt for a more modern blacked-out look to go with that glorious plaid upholstery, as well as a steering wheel with or without an airbag.

Truthfully, this is a small outlay of cash for a cool classic that’s been treated to an extensive makeover, and Arrows even has some pre-built examples up for sale on its website, so there’s no waiting required. Considering their reasonable price tags and inherent toughness, these rebuilt classics make for an enticing buy – even if importing one into the U.S. could prove to be a pain, as is usually the case. Regardless, that investment of time, effort, and patience is sure to pay off once you get one of these gorgeous machines in your garage.

Sam here — I’ve tried fiat on-ramp and the low fees impressed me. Great for cross-chain swaps with minimal slippage.
