A gorgeous Mercedes-Benz 560SEC is set to sell for more than a quarter of a million dollars in the US, mostly because it combines the best ingredients in a stunning restomod package.
This 560SEC has been fully built and overhauled by Bespoke Orange County, a shop specializing in classic Mercs. As part of the car’s transformation, it has been fitted with AMG Hammer-inspired carbon fiber fender flares and painted in Smoke Silver Metallic. It has also been installed with AMG-style bumpers and side skirts made from carbon and sits on three-piece 17-inch wheels.
Power comes from a rebuilt 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 sourced from a newer Mercedes-AMG. This engine also includes a bespoke stainless steel exhaust system and, rather surprisingly, is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission, driving the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential.
Bespoke Orange County also went to town on the car’s interior. It has been reupholstered in beige leather across the seats, and door panels. There’s also lots of new beautiful wooden trim, a McIntosh MX406 head unit, a Focal amplifier, and no less than 11 new Focal speakers. A look at the odometer reveals the chassis has ~41,000 miles (~66,000 km) on the clock.
The listing doesn’t mention how much the transformation cost, but it likely ran well into six figures. With a week left in the auction, bidding had already reached beyond the $275,000 mark, and there’s no telling how much higher it will go.
