2026 Mercedes C-Class Finally Gets Its Star-Studded Mid-Cycle Refresh

The fifth-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class came out in the first half of 2021, so it needs a facelift to stay competitive against BMW’s upcoming 3 Series Neue Klasse and Audi’s new A5 Sedan.

Mercedes is aware of it, so it has started road-testing the car’s mid-cycle refresh. The model has been recently spied featuring heavy camouflage on its front and rear ends, which is where the visual magic will happen on the outside.

In plain facelift fashion, the 2026 C-Class will feature new bumpers, star-studded headlights, which is an awesome touch for any modern-day Mercedes, fresh taillights, a modified grille, and perhaps new colors added to the palette, and additional wheel options to differentiate it further from the outgoing iteration. It’s worth noting that while the profile looks identical, the tester had new side mirrors and new sensors on the windscreen, thus suggesting more advanced ADAS.

Given that the interior hasn’t started showing its age yet, we do not expect serious updates in this department. The portrait-oriented central touchscreen and the tablet-like digital gauge cluster will likely carry over, perhaps with software updates. It’s possible that the steering wheel will be replaced, and since it’s common for facelifted vehicles to feature revised center consoles, this, too, could be on the list, next to new trim and upholstery.

Mercedes’ 2026 C-Class should also feature a few updates in the powertrain department, with an emphasis on meeting the stricter emission regulations. Mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid options will obviously be on deck, and it appears that the electrified four-banger in the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance is going away, perhaps being replaced by a mild-hybrid V8, similar to the one of the range-topping AMG CLE models. That would certainly be a nice touch.

It has been reported that the facelifted Mercedes-Benz C-Class might be due in 2025, likely arriving in the United States for the 2026 model year. Therefore, it should be a few months until we see it with no camouflage whatsoever. Nevertheless, the fake skin has already been peeled off, this time by the peeps at Kolesa, in a set of realistic renderings based on the latest scoops. For the most part, this is what the premium compact sedan will look like, and between us, those star-studded lighting units are a great touch (yes, we know we already said that, but just look at them!).

The upcoming C-Class is a more eye-catching proposal compared to its predecessor, the outgoing iteration, and we cannot wait to see it in an official environment. We should also note that the AMG variants will get the same makeover, albeit with the usual sports-oriented design, and these will probably launch shortly after the Benzes officially touch down.
