Sugar Chow, the virtual artist better known as sugardesign_1 on social media, has decided to CGI present his vision for the potential ‘EQC’ sedan – and it’s certainly not everything Mercedes-Benz fans had dreamed of.
The German automaker is certainly among the most advanced carmakers in the world across all sorts of domains. That includes EVs, of course, as the Mercedes-EQ series that debuted in 2016 with the Generation EQ concept vehicle now includes a wide-ranging family consisting of the EQA, EQB, and EQC compact crossover SUVs, the EQE and EQE SUV mid-rangers, the EQS and EQS SUV full-size flagships, plus the EQT and EQV minivans.
Now, there’s even an all-electric off-roader – the Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology who can do the tank turn. As such, you would say that Mercedes has covered all the angles. Well, as it turns out, the rumor mill and the imaginative realm of digital car content creators are adamant that’s not the case. For example, we have seen the 2025 Mercedes-AMG CLA EV sporty sedan in testing this spring, and parallel universes of vehicular CGI are also pretty sure that an all-electric C-Class is coming as a companion for the next-generation EQC crossover SUV that will be made in America from the 2026 model year onward.
However, not all visions are alike. For example, some pixel masters think that Mercedes has learned from its past EQ styling mistakes and envision the next-gen 2026 Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV as a sporty presence that positively targets best-sellers like the Tesla Model 3 or newcomers like the Polestar 2. Not Sugar Chow, though.
Better known as the virtual artist tucked under the sugardesign_1 alias on social media, he has decided to CGI present his vision for the potential ‘EQC’ sedan, and we really hope that the real deal will look nothing like this hideous unofficial four-door preview. Probably mesmerized by the Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan a little more than it’s good for his (mental) health – given his numerous design projects based on it (SU6 Coupe, SU7 widebody sedan and Touring, SU8 crossover SUV, etc.), he’s created something that looks more Chinese than Xiaomi.
No offense to the people of China, but this Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV preview feels like it was copied after the most boring EV model the author could find, and then he further toned it down to a non-descript generic look that could be interchangeable with every car brand’s logo that ever existed. Heck, not even the LED three-point stars in the headlights and taillights can make it seem more like a Mercedes. In fact, dare I say, the not-so-beloved EQE and EQS sedan now look like works of automotive art compared to this hypothetical idea. Luckily, it’s all wishful thinking, right? Right?!
Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV Won’t Look Like This Speculative Preview
