The latest Mercedes-AMG C63 S (W206) notoriously traded its V8 for a plug-in hybrid 4-cylinder setup, which may be more powerful but is seriously lacking in terms of sound and charisma, especially compared to its predecessors. In an effort to recapture “part of the C63’s soul,” Manhart introduced the CRE 700 tuning kit, adding extra power and enhancing the exhaust sound.
The Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance makes an impressive 671 hp (500 kW / 680 PS) and 1,020 Nm (752 lb-ft) of torque from the factory. Adding Manhart’s MHtronic module on the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, the tuner managed to increase the combined output of the plug-in hybrid powertrain to 715 hp (533 kW / 725 PS) and 1,120 Nm (826 lb-ft) of torque.
More importantly, the tuner added a new exhaust system with sport downpipes and 300-cell catalytic converters, resulting in a “significantly more powerful sound” to treat your four-cylinder blues. These components are only intended for markets outside Germany but if there is sufficient demand, Manhart will add TUV-approved options.
Visually, the CRE 700 has mild tweaks, while retaining the AMG bodykit and the 20-inch AMG wheels. The same applies to the interior, as the pictured F1 Edition already came with bucket seats, red seatbelts, and carbon fiber accents. Manhart’s input was limited to the blacked-out emblem on the grille, the matching finish for the door handles, the CRE 700 badges on the doors, and the decal set featuring matte gray and red stripes.
Furthermore, the modified sedan rides on a new set of H&R springs bringing it closer to the ground by 20 mm (0.8 inches) compared to stock. There is no change in the braking system although upgrades are available upon request.
The CRE 700 might not be the final C63 S tuning package from the Wuppertal-based tuner. Depending on customer demand, Manhart might continue working on the PHEV model and potentially expand the tuning options in the future.
