While everyone was busy checking out the stunning GT Black Series, the folks at SportAuto put the Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro through its paces at the track.
TIKT AMG GT R Pro | 770 PS | Hot Lap Hockenheim-GP | sport auto
With Christian Gebhardt behind the wheel, the German supercar was set loose at the Hockenheim GP to put in a hot lap. However, this wasn’t your run-of-the-mill GT R Pro, but one extensively modified by TIKT.
In addition to the carbon fiber body kit, complete with a new hood, front splitter, canards and rear wing, and additional vents, it features enhanced steering and brake cooling. The new 10×19-inch front and 12×20-inch rear wheels are lighter than the stock parts, and the GT3 bucket seats help secure the driver and passenger. Moreover, the tuner has bumped the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8’s output from 577 HP (585 PS / 430 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque to 759 HP (770 PS / 566 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm).
As a result, it lapped the German track in just 1:45.10, almost three seconds faster than the stock model. According to FastestLaps, it managed to beat the McLaren 720S (1:45.50), Ferrari 488 Pista (1:45.90) and Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (1:47.30). As impressive as it may sound, it was slower than the GT Black Series, which posted a time of 1:43.30 with the same driver at the helm. As for the undisputed king of unofficial lap times at the Hockenheim GP, this is still the McLaren Senna, with 1:40.79.
