The good folks over at Car Design World (aka cardesignworld on social media) tipped us off to this official Mercedes-AMG internship project by David Willke, a German Transportation Design student going by the alias of wllksktch on social media.

Mercedes-AMG Hyperventure Concept Reel

Mercedes-AMG GmbH, the high-performance subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz, is well known around the world – just like BMW’s M and other specialized outlets. What sets it apart from the rest of the pack is the Affalterbach flair, the racing heritage, and its relationship with many other automakers like Pagani, Aston Martin, and Lotus, among others.

The current range fully encapsulates the entire family of Mercedes-Benz models – from A-Class to G-Class and from electrics to standalone models. Interestingly, some AMG variants don’t have a correspondent in the Benz lineup, making them even more exclusive: the GT and SL series, as well as the AMG One flagship supercar. But how about an adventure vehicle that only bears the Affalterbach mark?

Well, that’s not possible in the real world – only across the parallel universes of vehicular CGI. However, this member of the imaginative guild of digital car content creators did get the stamp of approval from Mercedes-AMG because of his internship, so that still means something. So, meet the Mercedes-AMG Hyperventure, a virtual design concept that’s reserved solely for AMG but, unlike BMW’s exclusive XM, doesn’t make you want to run away crying your outrage to the moon and back.

Instead, this vehicle is designed to make AMG fans go everywhere – and experience the thrill of reaching an adventurous destination and staying there! That’s because the virtual artist decided to combine AMG’s classic DNA strings of performance and luxury with a new strand – practicality. More precisely, this off-road ‘coupe’ has a capsule compartment in the back, a splittable tent compartment, and reclining seats that morph into bunk beds.

That way, with the Mercedes-AMG Hyperventure concept, the driver and a friend or family member would experience “the thrill of going everywhere,” and then they can also stay there for a limited time if they want to! The exterior design, thanks to the dual-tone body treatment, features a clear separation between the cockpit and the tent cocoon, and inside, we can see there’s a minimalist design with the steering wheel also housing an integrated digital instrument cluster.

Unfortunately, the internship project is devoid of any technical details – so we don’t know anything about things like approach and departure angles, ride height, or what’s supposed to provide power to the chunky wheels. It could be an EV powertrain since there are no visible exhaust outlets, right? So, what do you think? Should Mercedes-AMG venture into the unknown and create a standalone off-road vehicle designed to attract people with an active lifestyle or stick to its traditional business solutions?
