Mercedes Benz CLK 200 Swap Is A 700-HP Beast

A car enthusiast from Poland has turned his once relatively pedestrian Mercedes-Benz CLK 200 – not the coveted Black Series model, but a good ol’ 1.8-liter supercharged four-pot – into a beast. The build isn’t new, but it has continuously evolved over the years.

Mało mocy! Większe wtryski i suchy lód w W209 Marcina z M104 Turbo i brak mocy?

The most important part of this build is the engine swap, but before we get there, let’s look at this Merc’s long history of swapping powertrains. The original 1.8-liter M271 four-banger was dropped in favor of a 2.3-liter turbocharged M111 inline-four producing 450 horsepower. This was followed by a larger M104 3.2-liter boosted inline-six, good for 520 hp.

In its current form, the CLK 200 is now propelled by an M104 3.6-liter stroker inline-six. Granted, the M104 is already one of the best inline-six engines ever made, but this build elevates it to another level.

The engine now produces 700 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. These impressive figures were accomplished thanks to a Garrett GTX3582R turbo, sending 22 psi worth of boost into the engine. The motor is further reinforced by Bosch 980cc injectors. It also has a larger radiator, oil cooler, and several other items needed to cool the upgraded powertrain.

On the outside, the car has a reasonably menacing look with its wide fenders and all-black body color. It rides on 18-inch wheels covering a set of Brembo discs and calipers. As you can see, it was also slammed close enough to the ground so even an ant would have trouble getting underneath.

Overall, this CLK 200 build was elevated to the same levels as more powerful cars like the Mercedes-AMG SL63. It likewise blows the original 342-hp AMG version of the CLK out of the water.

Unfortunately, the video didn’t show the black beast doing its thing on the road. They did perform some dyno testing on it, however.

You can hear the vehicle’s glorious inline-six scream as it tries to post an impressive figure. It sounds pleasant enough, but it still has some way to go before it reaches the ear-bursting roar of AMG’s old 5.4-liter supercharged V8 and the newer 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engines.
