2024 Mercedes A-Class Arrives In Australia With Panoramic Roof

Sporting subtle updates inside and out, the facelifted Mercedes-Benz A-Class family is gearing up for launch in Australia, joined by the two range-topping AMG models, the A 35 and A 45.
 

Set to arrive in showrooms later this month, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz A-Class lineup kicks off at AU$61,900 (US$41,415) for the A 200 Hatch, excluding on-road costs and delivery fees. This model uses a 120 kW (163 ps/161 hp) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque mild-hybrid gasoline engine, gets the AMG Line goodies, and features a standard panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, electric front seats with heating, keyless go, and active lane keeping.
 
Moving further up the range means getting the A 250 4Matic Hatch from AU$71,900 (US$48,106). Packing a mild-hybrid gasoline engine, it brings a bit more power, at 165 kW (224 ps/221 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, and features the brand’s all-wheel drive system. The 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) acceleration drops from 8.2 to 6.3 seconds in this model, which sports the same standard goodies, including the AMG Line and the panoramic sliding sunroof.
 
With 225 kW (306 ps/302 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) for 0-100 kph in 4.7 seconds, the AMG A 35 4Matic Hatch starts at AU$87,900 (US$58,811). If previous-gen supercar-like performance is what you’re interested in, then the A 45 S 4Matic+ is the one to go for. The mega hatch starts at AU$119,900 (US$80,221) and uses the 2.0L four-pot gasoline engine making 310 kW (421 ps/416 hp) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) for 0-100 kph in 3.9 seconds. Some of the onboard gear includes the Driver Assistance Package, AMG Track Pace, AMG Night Package II, AMG Real Performance Sound, red-painted brake calipers behind the exclusive wheels, and sportier styling inside and out.
 

Besides the hatchback body style, Mercedes also offers the A-Class in the four-door sedan configuration. The lineup comprises the A 200, A 250 4Matic, and A 35 4Matic, priced from AU$63,400 (US$42,419), AU$73,400 (US$49,110), and AU$89,400 (US$59,815), respectively. The first two models use the same powertrains as their hatchback equivalents, and the AMG 35 comes with a mild-hybrid 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit making 225 kW (306 ps/302 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). It needs 4.8 seconds to hit 100 kph from a standstill, features the same gizmos as the mega hatch (more or less), and comes with the AMG Ride Control Suspension as well.
 
Visually, the 2024 A-Class range differentiates itself from the pre-facelifted iteration due to the new grille pattern, fresh headlamps with optional LEDs, LED taillights, and different diffusers at the rear. The flat-bottom steering wheel is new inside, the center console was simplified, and it comes with fresh air vents with a turbine shape. The equipment list varies depending on the selected models and comprises leather upholstery on upper specs, an updated MBUX system with a fingerprint sensor, and several other gizmos.
