Mercedes has expanded the GLC family in Australia with the introduction of the GLC 200 4Matic. The model is on sale as we speak as an alternative to the superior GLC 300 4Matic.
As mentioned in the title, this model is now available with the brand’s all-wheel drive system in a premiere in the Land Down Under. Power is supplied by a 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged engine assisted by a 48-volt electrical system and an integrated starter generator.
According to the three-pointed star brand, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 4Matic’s four-banger mill develops up to 150 kW (204 ps/201 hp) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque, with the ISG adding up to 17 kW (23 ps/23 hp) and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft). The mode uses a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and 4Matic AWD, taking a respectable 7.8s to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph (62 mph).
Mercedes says this model features 19-inch wheels with a ten-twin-spoke design in tremolite gray with a high-sheen finish. It also comes with aluminum-look running boards with rubber studs, LED headlamps with highbeam assist, a panoramic sliding sunroof, a 360-degree camera system, active park assist, transparent hood feature, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and power-operated side mirrors with Mercedes logo projection.
Other standard gizmos include the ambient lighting, silver-gray diamond-pattern trim on the dashboard, high-gloss black accents on the center console, backlit door sill panels with Mercedes-Benz lettering, Artico upholstery, and comfort front seats with four-way lumbar support. This version of the GLC is also equipped with smartphone integration, a wireless charging pad, two-zone climate control, and a multifunction sports leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Some of the onboard ADAS include the active lane keeping assist, active distance assist, blind spot assist, traffic sign assist, and pre-safe system. Mercedes also mentions nine airbags, a tire pressure loss warning system, and an emergency spare wheel, while adding that the GLC 200 4Matic SUV has a luggage capacity of 620 liters (21.9 cubic feet).
As an option, customers can choose the Spectral Blue, High-tech Silver, Obsidian Black, Verde Silver, and Graphite Gray metallic paint finishes. Several Manufaktur hues are also available, including the Patagonia Red bright, Alpine Gray solid, and Opalite White bright. The GLC 200 4Matic’s interior can be specified in sienna brown/black, black, macchiato beige/black Artico artificial leather, and neva gray/black as part of the Sport Pack.
The latter also adds a set of 20-inch AMG wheels with a multi-spoke design, wheel arch trim in the car’s color, anthracite lime wood trim on the dashboard, and a sporty engine sound. The Plus Package brings MBUX augmented reality for navigation, Guard 360° protection, Burmester 3D audio system, Driving Assistance Package Plus, digital light, and heat and noise insulating glass. The Night Package joins the offering with several black exterior touches and a pair of 20-inch AMG alloys.
