Brabus has turned the Mercedes-AMG G63 into a high-performance off-road pick-up truck

Brabus 800 Adventure XLP is the German brand’s rugged take on the Mercedes-AMG G63 that’s debuting at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The company overhauls the SUV by adding a pickup bed to the back and tuning the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 to 789 horsepower (588 kilowatts) and an earth-moving 738 pound-feet (1,000 Newton-meters) of torque. For conquering harsh terrain, the drivetrain gains portal axles. As an extra touch, a Wingcopter drone attaches to the back.

Brabus estimates the 800 Adventure XLP can reach 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in just 4.8 seconds, which is impressive for such a big machine. The 22-inch all-terrain tires force the company to limit the top speed to 130 mph (210 kph).

To make room for the custom pickup bed, Brabus extends the wheelbase by a considerable 19.7 inches (50 centimeters). In total, the vehicle measure 17.4 feet (5.31 meters), which is 27.1 inches (68.9 centimeters) longer than a stock G63 with no spare wheel on the back. The company claims that the modifications to the frame retain the G-Class’ torsional rigidity.

The structure of the cargo bed is steel, and the bedsides are carbon to keep the weight down. There’s also a heated rear window. The body wears a new hood with a pair of prominent scoops, and there’s a bullbar with an integrated winch. A luggage rack on the roof adds even more space for hauling gear into the wilderness.

The 800 Adventure XLP also has a custom suspension that offers 19.2 inches (49 centimeters) of ground clearance.

Inside, this G-Class has dark brown leather in a color that Brabus calls Burned Oak. The center of the seats and door panels get diamond-shaped quilting. The headliner is black Alcantara.

The BRABUS 800 Adventure XLP carries a hefty price of 575,630 euros ($626,236 at current exchange rates). The highly optioned model on display in Geneva will be for sale for 666,386 euros ($725,064).
