The W210 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is perhaps one the most recognizable cars thanks to its odd design.
Over time, people seem to have become more accustomed to the highly criticized bug-eyed face, but one owner decided to make his W210 even more aesthetically challenging than the original.
This is a prime example of a car mod atrocity that will leave you regretting clicking on the link. We understand (and respect) the owner’s idea of turning it into a V8-powered go-kart. It’s simultaneously the best and worst idea ever, which are the best kinds of ideas.
But the execution is just terrible, almost like an unfinished project or something pulled straight out of Mad Max.
Posted on Facebook Marketplace, Micah Walley is selling this 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E430 for $3,000. It already has 162,000 miles on the odometer, so the low pricing is expected. The sale is to make space to work on another project car.
The only Mercedes bits left over are the grille and the brand’s logo on the hood. Other than those, almost everything is stripped to the core. Gone are the quad headlights, windshield, top half of the car, and rear seats. The builder added a roll cage and removed the paint on the side for that more rugged go-kart look.
Under the hood is a 4.3-liter V8 engine, which makes 275 horsepower from the factory. With all the weight reduction, we don’t question Walley’s claim that the car is fast. Just be careful having too much fun, especially on bumpy roads, as the rear axle is slightly bent.
Walley even suggests the future owner “do some mean drifting in Mercedes style.” We’re not sure what the seller meant by that, but we’re not taking our chances.
If you happen to fancy the build, you can go check out the Mercedes go-kart in person in Seattle, Washington.
