Mercedes-AMG C43 2020 Spy Shots for the first time

Our spy photographers have caught a new AMG version of the next Mercedes C-Class, likely to be the AMG C43, testing during its winter development programme. The compact performance saloon is expected to go on sale mid-way through 2021, pitched as a rival for the BMW M340i xDrive.
 

Cosmetic revisions over the standard Mercedes C-Class are substantial; this mule wears an aggressive body kit with deeper side skirts, a lower splitter, a new diffuser, and what look like makeshift canards mounted to the front bumper. The firm’s trademark quad-exit exhausts also feature at the back.
 

Mercedes has already confirmed that the next C-Class will get an entirely redesigned cabin with a digital gauges and a large central display stretching from the bottom of the centre console to the top of the dash. As this is an AMG model, sports seats, aluminium pedals and a sports steering wheel are expected inside.
 

The new AMG C43 will be based on an updated version of the outgoing C-Class’s rear-wheel-drive MRA platform and, like the rest of Mercedes-AMG 43 range, we expect it’ll be powered by new turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine, developing around 400bhp.
 

Like all AMG products, the new Mercedes-AMG C43 will feature a host of chassis upgrades, including adaptive dampers, uprated anti-roll bars and a set of enormous drilled discs with six-piston calipers – as shown behind the wheels of this mule.
