Former tennis player and successful businessman Ion Țiriac has purchased the 84th of the 275 Mercedes-AMG One series planned to be built.

After a wait of more than three years, former tennis player and billionaire Ion Țiriac has taken possession of his Mercedes-AMG One hypercar, serial number 84 of the 275, to be built by the German manufacturer.

At a press conference held at the Țiriac Collection Museum, where Țiriac owns more than 300 classic and exclusive cars, the businessman said he could have taken possession of one of the first examples but preferred to wait.

The car has a price of 2.75 million euros ($2.93 million) plus VAT and was due to be launched in autumn 2019, but has been delayed for almost three years due to problems adapting the 1.6-liter V6 engine taken over from Formula 1 to increasingly stringent emissions rules and the idle speed typical of a street engine.

Among those on the list of 275 future owners are Formula 1 drivers David Coulthard and Nico Rosberg and actor Mark Wahlberg.

The Mercedes-AMG One features a centrally located 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine with electrically driven turbine developing 574 PS (566 HP)/9,000 rpm, mated to two electric motors: MGU-K of 120 kW which has a propulsion role being connected directly to the crankshaft of the V6 engine and MGU-H of 90 kW with a generator role placed between the exhaust gas turbine and the compressor turbine, directly on the turbine shaft. Two other 120 kW electric motors are located at the front wheels and powered by an 8.4 kWh Li-Ion battery. The total power of the assembly is 1063 PS (1048 HP).

The Mercedes-AMG One accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.9 seconds, reaches 200 kph in 7.0 seconds, and 300 kph in 15.6 seconds, while the top speed is 352 kph.

Țiriac Collection Museum is located in Bucharest, near to the International Otopeni Airport and include more than 300 classic and exclusive cars. The Tiriac Collection is the only collection in the world that includes all six generations of the classic Rolls-Royce Phantom.
