Mercedes-Benz is in the middle of a massive round of updates, and we’ve spotted nearly all of them testing in the last few weeks. The latest is the so-called coupe version of the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, which has been spotted by our intrepid photographers on the road in Germany. The disguised GLE is showing off new running lights as well as an updated bumper and grille. What you can’t see is a new cabin with the latest version of the Mercedes-Benz Hyperscreen.
GLE-Coupe Gets The Fancy New Headlights
It’s helpful when an automaker only puts the camouflage wrap on the front and rear of a prototype. That lets us know immediately that the doors aren’t changing. If the doors aren’t changing, then neither is the chassis. At least not significantly.
Like the GLE SUV spotted last month, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Coupe picks up the MB Star running lights. The GLE model gets a pair side by side in each headlight of the design we first saw on the Concept CLA a while back.
Also like the GLE SUV, the Coupe is getting a grille flip. Instead of being narrow at the top and wide at the bottom, for 2026 it will be wide at the top and narrow down below. Though it’s hard to tell with the camo, the grille also appears to be taller than it was before.
Other changes to the face of the GLE Coupe include a reshaped lower air inlet and, based on the holes in the wrap, some very differently shaped side intakes as well. The grille crossbar of non-AMG models isn’t on this GLE, meaning either it’s an AMG with tiny wheels and no badging or the standard version is losing that accent.
More Stars In The Rear Plus A New Dash Is Hiding
Jump to the back and there are more Mercedes-Benz star accents in the brake lights. The tails themselves are reshaped, and the tailpipes and lower bumper have also been massaged. An LED bar running across the tailgate is also new and brings the GLE in line with other Benzes.
We can’t see the interior directly, but we can see the layer of heavy fabric that is a marker things are new. Automakers use the material to hide the dash from, well, us, but it still allows the driver to see things like the dash.
Our spies say the 2026 GLE Coupe will get the giant door-to-door Hyperscreen of the EQ models, or at least a version of it. Possibly not the full 56-inch version. The latest MBUX interface will accompany the change.
The GLE has been on sale since 2018 with a refresh for 2024 complete with a new hybrid, although the current one is already quite impressive. After that refresh, we’re somewhat surprised that the GLE-Class is only getting another refresh for 2026. Expect the change to be revealed in 2025 and for it to go on sale the next year. We’ll keep you updated.
