2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV Has Us Seeing Stars

A camouflaged Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class has been spotted undergoing testing on the road in Germany. The covered-up SUV shows off new headlights with Mercedes-Benz stars as the running lights, a new bumper and grille, and a new cabin with the latest and biggest version of the Mercedes-Benz Hyperscreen.

Benz isn’t hiding much behind that wrap. The new headlights are quite clearly on display, and they’re showing off the latest Mercedes-Benz trend of putting its logo on everything. What was a giant grille emblem has expanded over the last few years to include hundreds of stars on the wheels on cars like the EQS, studded star grilles on most of its recent cars, and these new signature accent lights, which we first saw on the Concept CLA.

GLE Gets Newest Mercedes-Benz Design
As far as the grille itself, while what we can see is limited to a few dozen holes, it does appear to be missing the central bar that runs across the grille of the current GLE. We can also see a shape that suggests the GLE is getting the same grille flip as the latest E-Class, where instead of narrowing from bottom to top, the grille is its widest about three-quarters up from the bottom of the grille. See the 2024 E-Class (or images of the current GLE at the bottom of this article) for what we mean.

Expect more subtle changes to the nose, including a revised lower grille and side air intakes. AMG models will also get their own take on those accents, but all cars should look more imposing and wider, even with unchanged dimensions.

At the back, more stars. Like the headlights, the tails use the Mercedes-Benz star logo. Two small cutouts hint that there could be an LED light bar running across the hatch. A similar detail was added to the GLC-Class with its most recent update.

Expect More Screens Inside
Our spies tell us that the cabin will get a bigger screen. It will get a new version of the enormous Hyperscreen that stretches from door to door in the revised cabin. There are a couple of different versions of that system currently, and it’s not clear if it will get the full panel like the 56-inch unit in the EQE and EQS or one with a separate dash screen like the latest E-Class. Either way, expect the latest MBUX infotainment system and for the GLE’s touchpad to go away.

The latest GLE-Class SUV first appeared in 2018 at the Paris Motor Show, with production starting in August. It went on sale as a model year 2019 vehicle. Mercedes revealed a refreshed 2024 model in January of 2023 that added a PHEV and a 48-volt hybrid system as well as some cosmetic changes.

With that model only a year old, don’t expect to see this new version on sale for a while. Our sources say a 2025 reveal is possible, and it would go on sale as a 2026, though others are calling this the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLE. We’ll let you know as soon as we find out for sure.
