Mercedes has just revealed the AMG G 63 Grand Edition and the G 500 Final Edition. Only 1,000 people will be able to get their hands on the former, while 1,500 units of the latter will see the light of day.
The G 500 Final Edition is Mercedes’ way of saying goodbye to the V8 engine, which has been powering the boxy off-roader since 1993. The next generation will keep on downsizing (remember the days of the V12!), switching to six-cylinder units or to an all-electric powertrain in the EQG.
Those who want to drive home with the G 500 Final Edition will have to pick one of the three colors available: obsidian black Manufaktur opalith white magno or olive magno.
The model sports 20-inch AMG wheels with a double-spoke design, while the Final Edition lettering shows up on the fenders, on the doorknobs, and on the spare wheel cover at the rear. Click-clack the doors open and the “Stronger than time” text projects on the ground. There is Nappa leather pretty much everywhere on board, cargo compartment included.
Prices in Europe start at 196,350 euros. Mercedes will be rolling off the assembly line this final edition starting in September and will halt production in March 2024.
