Known for its durability, craftsmanship, and (for the time) cutting-edge safety technology, the iconic Mercedes-Benz W124, later becoming known as the E-Class, continues to captivate enthusiasts worldwide. For those dedicated to preserving their cherished W124s, KW Suspensions introduces the V3 Classic suspension kit. This multi-adjustable suspension system, boasting a stainless steel construction, straightforwardly replaces original equipment components without needing modification.
The coilover suspension kit permits independent compression and rebound damping adjustments, along with spring preload and ride height. It is compatible with Mercedes W124 sedans with four-, five-, or six-cylinder engines.
There is also a version for the V8-powered Mercedes 500 E. For four-, five-, and six-cylinder models, the front suspension can be lowered by 40-65 millimeters and the rear by 40-60 mm. In comparison, the Mercedes 500 E can experience a front lowering of 20-45 mm and a lowering of 20-40 mm at the rear.
Just like the KW off-road suspension kit developed with Brabus, these adjustments can be made without modifying the control arms or body domes, which means these coilovers were specifically developed for their application.
The KW V3 Classic Suspension Kit is constructed with a multi-valve damper design, enabling individual adjustments for low-speed compression and rebound damping, allowing the pre-set damping setup to be fine-tuned to individual preferences.
Rebound damping significantly influences the W124’s handling, keeping the tires in contact with the road by determining how rapidly the spring recoils to its standard state after compression. In contrast, compression damping influences the spring compression rate during movement, affecting body roll and steering response. The KW V3’s pre-configured high-speed valves ensure rapid channel opening to dampen road imperfections, enhancing ride comfort and handling performance.
Pricing is yet to be revealed.
KW Automotive is also planning to release more V3 Classic suspension kits. Owners of convertible, coupe, wagon, V8 models, and AMG variants within the Mercedes W124 range can expect kits for their cars soon.
