There is a new two-door GT on the Mercedes-AMG block, which is two years old and shares its nuts and bolts with the latest SL roadster, yet that does not mean that the old GT is not exciting anymore, because it is, and for what it’s worth, it has also lost value.
Quite recently, one example of the previous generation sold for $83,000, and that has to mean something, right? If you said no, then you clearly do not know how much the cheapest went for, and the answer, according to some third-party websites, is $42,274. Still, on average, this model gets well over $100,000 and close to $150,000, depending on different factors, including the overall condition, mileage, etc.
Now, the one you see above in the photo gallery is not searching for a new home, and if it were, then it would have been significantly pricier. First and foremost, well, just look at it! Due to its stealthy appearance, it looks like a real fighter jet for the road. Second, it is not your run-of-the-mill previous-generation Mercedes-AMG GT either, as you are looking at the mighty Black Series, a model that we hope returns on the second-gen.
Since you know the specification, you also know how much power it has, don’t you? If you said 590 pound-feet (800 Nm) of torque and 720 brake horsepower (730 ps/537 kW), then you certainly know your new-age AMGs. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series rivaled real supercars in a straight-line acceleration, anyway, as it completed the 0-62 mph (100 kph) sprint in 3.2 seconds and tapped out at 202 miles per hour (325 kph).
Another thing that you may have forgotten about this model is its extremely aggressive aero. As a result, if you though that those vented fenders, the sporty hood, the side skirts, the large rear wing, the muscular diffuser, and pretty much everything else came from the aftermarket world, think again, because they were installed at the Sindelfingen factory, during the car’s assembly.
One feature that we cannot say the same about is the new wheel set. The alloys in this case were signed by HRE and they are called the HX104. These are carbon fiber wheels that start at $7,850 each, according to the company’s official website, and they are available in several configurations, finishes, and sizes for various customization.
Besides the pictured Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, these wheels can also be found on a few McLarens and Ferraris, and there aren’t that many vehicles out there that rock them. Thus, the HX104 proposal is quite exclusive, mainly because an entire set costs as much as a very nice used car, and that’s before factoring in the options and the tires.
