Mercedes-Benz Contacted Me About My AMG GT R & The REAL STORY Is INSANE! It Now Has 850 Horsepower! Big thanks to Victory Road Performance! They are your one-stop shop for AMG Performance parts, and I can’t believe how great their parts worked out in my AMG GT R.
My AMG GT R Made CRAZY Power With BIG Turbos & Mercedes Contacted Me With The INSANE Full Story!
AMG GT R from Legit Street Cars was a demo from Mercedes, had a stint in the AMG Academy, and now makes supercar levels of power.
For those who don’t know, Alex Palmeri from Legit Street Cars is a huge Mercedes enthusiast. Ask him about M-B sunroof grease if you have any doubts. But to the main point, Palmeri has picked up a smokin’ deal on an AMG GT R recently. It was bought at auction, and as most auction car videos go, this car has a story.
But before that, the vehicles featured on Legit Street Cars often need more power. As though the AMG GT R isn’t fast enough. A whole slew of new parts are on hand to help this AMG breathe a little easier. New turbos and down pipes from VRP will add some extra boost. Down pipes include catalytic converters. Much like Palmeri, we’re in favor of having cats on cars. They don’t rob that much horsepower, and breathing nice air is nice.
After the mods are installed, it is dyno tune time. And street tuning too. Dyno’s are great for top end performance, but street tunes are a huge benefit to daily drivers. You cant be full throttle all the time on the street and you want the car to behave at least a little bit. Even so, the tunes for this car are at 30psi of boost. A run on the dyno revealed a peak above 760 wheel horsepower. With a sligly conservative tune for reliability and for pump gas, Alex is still well over 700 to the wheels.
How about that back story? Well this car was picked up at auction with what was believed to be structural damage. The auction company thought that because the door hinges were white.
That’s atypical for a car that has been whacked at the A-pillar. But that hinge was wrapped white, as the car had a much different look in the past. It appeared in influencer ads, a music video, a gender reveal video, and even the AMG Driving Academy. And now, lives with the LSC fleet.
