The Green Hell is the nickname of Germany’s (in)famous Nurburgring, which served as an inspiration for one special hue in Mercedes’ portfolio that was previously reserved for the more expensive models. As of now, however, this shade can be applied to the AMG A 45 S 4Matic+ courtesy of a new special edition.
Dubbed the AMG Green Hell Magno, it is one of the highlights of the mega hatch in the new limited edition configuration. The regular Mercedes-AMG A 45 S already stands out in a sea of cars due to its striking design, and with the black racing stripes, yellow accents, unique trim on the lower parts of the doors, and 45s decals decorating the front ones, the new special edition is undoubtedly flashier.
This model’s wheels feature a bi-tone finish with matte black and yellow. They have a seven double-spoke design measuring 19 inches in diameter and are reserved for this model. The brake calipers sport a glossy black look with white AMG logos. The exclusive fuel filler cap with an AMG logo and light projector are other highlights of the car, which can be equipped with the AMG Night Package, AMG Night Package II, and AMG Aerodynamics Package for an even more striking presence.
Did you think the Affalterbach brand drew the line at the exterior? It hasn’t, as the cockpit boasts a few unique touches of its own. Here, users will find the Artico artificial leather and Microcut microfiber upholstery. Yellow decorative stitching bedecks the instrument panel, door cards, and seats, and the front headrests have ’45 S’ embossing. The steering wheel is equally colorful, and the hot hatch has special AMG door sills. Last but not least, the AMG floor mats with ’45 S’ lettering complete the package.
Under the hood, the new special edition version of the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4Matic+ retains the same 2.0-liter four-pot powering the rest of the range. The turbocharged mill produces an impressive 415 hp (421 ps/210 kW) and 369 pound-foot (500 Nm) of torque. The spec sheet reveals 3.9 seconds needed to push to 62 mph (100 kph) from zero and a 168 mph (270 kph) top speed.
The 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system is on deck with AMG Torque Control to improve the driving experience. It has two electronically-controlled multi-plate clutches on the rear axle, each connected to the driveshaft. The force can be equally distributed between the front and rear axles and selectively between the right and left rear wheels.
Mercedes says the new A 45 S Limited Edition hot hatch is up for grabs in selected European countries. The pricing varies depending on the market and will remain on sale until the end of the year.
