Wait a minute, hasn’t the three-pointed star company presented the Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition back in September of 2025? It sure did. So, why are we writing about it again? Because we just got to see this cool green example for the first time, which is aimed at the Land of the Rising Sun.

As you likely already know, the special edition version of the V12-powered luxury sedan is capped at 50 units only for worldwide markets, and 10 percent of them will make their way to Japan. If math is not exactly your strong point, then you should know that it means that only 5 examples will be sold in the Asian country, and it seems that the automaker might have to hold a lottery to sell them.
The icing on the cake when it comes to the pictured 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S 680 V12 Edition is definitely the exterior paint finish. It features a dual-tone look that combines Manufaktur Olive on the upper parts of the body with Obsidian Black on the lower elements. The High-Tech Silver pinstripes are also on deck, and so are the usual shiny elements and the Maybach-typical 20-inch alloy wheels that further contribute to the special look of this car.

Our Japanese is a little rusty, yet we managed to find out that that painting this special edition model takes up to 10 days, which is roughly double the amount of time of the regular Maybach vehicle. A 24-karat gold inlay further highlights this car’s special nature, alongside a V-shaped pattern that was clearly inspired by the V12 unit that breathes air from behind that imposing grille.
A few upgrades have been made on the inside, too, where this Mercedes-Maybach S 680 V12 Edition features Nappa leather on the headliner and steering wheel and sports Manufaktur Saddle Brown and Black trim, too. A special numbered plaque is also included, and the typical Maybach logo, albeit in gold, is visible on the headrests.

Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 engine. The handcrafted unit pumps out 664 pound-feet (900 Nm) of torque and 621 horsepower (630 ps/463 kW). The regular Mercedes-Maybach S 680 hits 60 mph (97 kph) in 4.3 seconds, and chances are that this special edition is equally fast, and why wouldn’t it be? The lesser S 580 features a 496 hp (503 ps/370 kW) 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 unit, and is four-tenths of a second slower than the V12-powered variant.
The media based in the Land of the Rising Sun reveals that pricing for the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S 680 V12 Edition starts at 53.99 million yen, which translates to $343,140 at the current exchange rate. The regular S 680 kicks off at $244,400 in the United States of America.
