Mercedes-Maybach loves a special edition. Not too long ago, the high-end brand revealed a one-of-a-kind S680 inspired by yachting, and now it’s the turn of the Edition Nordic Glow. Debuting at Monterey Car Week, the ultra-luxury sedan is limited to just 50 units and is exclusive to the US market. That makes this limited edition even more exclusive than the Haute Voiture variant that was unveiled in 2022. So, what sets this S680 apart from the rest?
For a start, the Edition Nordic Glow receives Northern Lights Violet Metallic over Moonlight White Metallic paintwork. Created by the Manufaktur Individualization program, the S680 takes inspiration from the gorgeous violet glow of aurora borealis – better known as the northern lights. The Edition Nordic Glow borrows elements from the Night Series Design Package. This includes Dark Chrome trim accents and other darkened finishes. 21-inch Multi-Spoke Champagne Flute wheels finish off the styling.
An Interior To Rival The Most Luxurious Hotel Suites
While it has the presence befitting a car of this status, what’s it like inside? As you would expect, it’s a truly sumptuous cabin, with hand-stitched Manufaktur Rose Gray Exclusive Nappa leather trim and Amethyst Gray contrast stitching. The leather extends beyond the seating surfaces and can be found on the steering wheel, door cards, and more. It’s even on the folding tables and comfort pillows found in the rear quarters.
Maybach knows the details are important. That’s why the Edition Nordic Glow receives gorgeous high-pile trunk and floor mats with Mercedes-Maybach logo embroidery, and Rose Grey Nappa leather piping. Natural Grain Herringbone Pattern Dark Walnut veneer (from the Manufaktur collection, no less) uplifts the interior ambiance. Finally, “Edition Nordic Glow 1 of 50” badging can be found on the center console, reminding all occupants that this isn’t a ‘regular’ Maybach sedan.
Oh My, That’s A Big Price Tag
There’s plenty of luxury on board. Features that are normally pricey options have been made standard on the Edition Nordic Glow. This includes the Executive Rear Seat Package Plus ($6,000) and a rear-cabin refrigerator with champagne flutes ($4,300). Then again, you’d expect these features to come standard on a car that costs $339,000 – over $100,000 more than a standard S680. The Edition Nordic Glow will reach US dealerships later this year and, with just 50 units available, you had better act fast.
