Mercedes-Benz Unimog Is An Ex-Army Truck Offered At No Reserve

Some say the Mercedes Unimog is one of the best off-roaders ever made, and if you feel the same and are searching for one to bring back to its initial shine, you should take a closer look at the copy pictured below.

According to the ad, it is a 1989 Freightliner Unimog FLU 10344, though the vendor claims it is titled as a Mercedes-Benz. Moreover, it can be legally driven on public roads, and for extra peace of mind, it comes with a clean MN title. More importantly, though, it is offered at no reserve, so the highest bidder will become its next owner when the gavel hits the table.

You see, the Unimog was never offered to civilians in the United States of America, though Mercedes sold a few of them to the Army as Freightliners. And guess what? This is one of them. It comes with a green exterior, a black interior that is very basic, rides on 20-inch steel wheels, has locking front and rear differentials, portal axles to clear some big obstacles off the lit path, a hydraulic front-mounted lift, an inclinometer, manual windows, and vinyl upholstery.

The odometer reads around 100 miles (~160 km), though that is clearly not the real mileage, which is unknown. This is but one issue, alongside the exterior paint imperfections, chips, dings, scratches, old tires with cracks in the sidewalls, wear on the inside, some rust on various components, and so on. Thus, this Mercedes Unimog would make for a great restoration project.

Its next owner should know that the brakes are said to have been serviced earlier this year, and besides the menacing truck, they will get one single key, and that is it. This model packs a straight-six diesel with a 5.7-liter displacement that produces around 110 horsepower. The engine is paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and a 2-speed transfer case, and a four-wheel drive system is obviously on deck.

The vehicle is said to have been in the possession of a dealer since April 2019, who has put some 10 miles on its clock since. It is now listed on Cars&Bids as part of an ongoing auction that ends six days from now, on July 21, 2025. As mentioned above, the truck is offered at the excitement of no reserve, and at the time of writing, there were two bids on it, with the highest being $520.

Mind you, quite a few people are monitoring the online auction, so the pricing should gradually increase. Something like this is usually valued at over $25,000, and if you want to make the pictured vehicle yours, then you must click on this link. But how much would you spend on it?
