Do you still see the new-age Mercedes-AMG SL as being brand new? Well, it is not, because the official unveiling took place in October 2021, and almost five years have passed since then.

During this time, the model has proved its worth numerous times, and in case you did not know, you can also buy it in the United States of America. The most humble offering comes with a 2.0L four-pot and is called the Mercedes-AMG SL 43. It has 416 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque to play with, hits 60 (97 kph) in just 4.6 seconds, and starts at $112,550, which is definitely steep.
Mind you if you think that is steep, you should know that things will only go north price-wise from here, as the Mercedes-AMG SL 55 starts at $145,250. It has 469 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque from its 4.0L bi-turbo V8, hitting 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. The SL 63 uses a punchier version of the same engine, making 577 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. It accelerates to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, and kicks off at $187,850, excluding destination.

The most extreme version of the series is called the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance. It hits 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds aided by its electrified 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine. The assembly produces 805 horsepower combined and a whopping 1,047 pound-feet (1,420 Nm) of torque in total. As you can expect, picking one of these is going to be very costly, as the MSRP is set at $207,900 for the 2026 model year.
Nevertheless, there is a way to own a new-age Mercedes-AMG SL for cheaper than the prices mentioned above, and naturally, you will have to live with a used example. Case in point, meet a 2022 model year SL 55, which we found in the possession of @motorcarsofchicago, advertised on social media.

The car in question has a Cirrus Silver Metallic exterior paint finishes, joined by a few blacked-out accents, has bi-tone wheels, red brake calipers, and a red pepper and black interior. According to the vendor, this particular Mercedes-AMG SL 55 has a clean title and a very decent (for something like this) 11,000 miles (17,700 km) or so under its belt. By the looks of it there does not seem to be anything wrong with this premium roadster, but don’t take our word for granted.
How much do you think this thing costs? At the time of writing, it was advertised for $97,995, which is $47,255 below the MSRP of a brand-new Mercedes-AMG SL 55 from the 2026 model year. Thus, depreciation is clearly not on this model’s side. Still, would you buy this one for $98K?
