For people in their 30s and 40s, the Maybach brand started when gangster rappers began buying them for their opulence and price tags while also dropping the name in song. But the brand is older than Rick Ross and it’s even older than Biggie Smalls – crazy, right? This year marks the 100-year anniversary of the brand, and as you can guess, it’s building a special car in honor of the occasion.
It’s called the Mercedes-Maybach Edition 100 and it’s based, naturally, on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. It will be limited to 100 units worldwide and go on sale in the first half of 2022. It’s a little bit different than the standard S, but its rarity will certainly be its draw.
The new model will start with the company’s 621-horsepower V12 engine along with its top Burmester 4D surround sound system as well as heated and massaging seats. It’s a full seven inches longer than the limo-like, long-wheelbase S-Class, putting it at just over 215 inches of luxury, and will feature an all-wheel-drive powertrain.
The new edition will be hand-painted in two-tone Cirrus Silver and Nautical Blue with interior colors of Crystal White and Silver Grey Pearl. Special “Edition 100” badges will be placed throughout the cabin, including illuminated versions. The “Edition 100” logo extends to the wheels, which get a new gray finish.
To go along with your purchase, you get a car cover with the double-M badge as well as a “fine handmade case made of soft crystal white or black leather in file size,” so you can store all your important luxury-related documents. Some of Maybach’s partners are expectedly designing things like limited-edition, diamond-studded fountain pens to go with the vehicle.
We don’t have a price yet, but the Mercedes-Maybach S580 costs $184,900. That has a V8. There is also an S680 listed with the V12, but no price is given. If we had to guess, between the inclusion of the V12 and the special Maybach limited-edition provenance, this Edition 100 could be landing at around $250,000, but what’s a few hundred thousand between friends?

Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your article seem
to be running off the screen in Safari. I’m
not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I
thought I’d post to let you know. The design and style look great though!
Hope you get the problem resolved soon. Cheers
