The premium car maker thus integrated the manufacturing of the electric luxury saloon into the ongoing series production. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class saloon, its long-wheelbase version, as well as the Maybach S-Class also see the light of day at Factory 56. Maximum flexibility allows the assembly of different models and drive types on one single line. It is therefore uncomplicated for the processes and equipment in the production hall to adapt. This happens all thanks to the “Fullflex Marriage” system, that consists of several modular stations.

High level of digitalization also had in impact on the increasing of efficiency in production. The MO360 digital ecosystem stands at the base of production, providing assistance for the more than 1,500 employees at Factory 56. For this all of them constantly receive intensive training.

The new Mercedes EQS, part of an almost CO2-neutral ecosystem
Mercedes is thus exemplifying the sustainable CO2-neutral vehicle manufacturing. The car maker has been working hard for years in order to implement more and more measures to enhance environmental protection and resource conservation. For example, there are photovoltaic panels on the roof of the hall. They provide around 30% of the electricity necessary for the site.

“Our new all-electric luxury saloon EQS sets new standards, with a range of 770 kilometers according to WLTP. At the same time, the EQS stands for sustainability along the entire value chain. From development through purchasing, production and charging process to recycling. The EQS is thus a milestone on the way to our Ambition 2030, with which Mercedes-Benz is working intensively on a CO2-netural new car fleet”, says Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG, responsible for Daimler Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars COO.
