Mercedes cars used to be built like tanks, and if you miss the good-old days, you may want to spruce up your life with this stunning 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300 CD.
The two-door model is pretty much immortal. The excellent build quality is something that you will tell your neighbors all about when their rides inevitably break down. This one has a Midnight Blue exterior paint finish on top of a Palomino interior and remains in excellent shape despite being four decades old.
Do you know what the flaws are? You may want to take a seat for this one, as it is the 2019 date codes on the tires. We kid you not, these are the only known flaws! As for the mods, they include an air conditioning conversion, which is a welcome upgrade if you ask us and anyone who doesn’t want to sweat inside their car on a hot summer’s day, and an Alpine head unit to better play your favorite tunes.
This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300 CD comes with the original 14-inch wheels. It has power windows, cruise control, a sunroof, and a few other features. Under the hood lies a five-cylinder turbodiesel engine. The 3.0-liter unit is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission that delivers 123 hp and 184 pound-feet (250 Nm) of torque to the rear axle.
The odometer read around 95,000 miles (~153,000 km) at the time of cataloging, and there is a reporting gap in the Carfax report, though it seems that this classic machine hasn’t been involved in any accidents and does not have any mileage discrepancies. The current owner picked it up earlier this year and claims to have repainted the hood to address some chips. The car was last serviced in August 2025, prior to another visit to the shop in late 2024.
This stunning-looking 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300 CD comes from a long-gone era when cars were built to last, and owning a Mercedes meant spending your days doing pretty much anything other than taking your car to the shop to mend some things. The build quality was something that these rides were famously known for, and it is a pity to see the downfall of this iconic German automaker in this chapter. Then again, we could say the same about a whole bunch of other car manufacturers, can’t we?
If you want to make this old-timer yours, you will have to register with Cars&Bids and bid on it. The ongoing auction started recently and will end next week, on September 24, 2025. The highest bid was $6,750 at the time of writing, and this model is worth a little over $21,000 on average in today’s market. How much would you pay for it?
