The Volvo V60 Cross Country and the Audi A4 Allroad can expect a formidable challenger this year from Stuttgart – the Mercedes C-Class All-Terrain. The chief engineer of the new C-Class project, Christian Fruh, recently revealed to German publication Automobilwoche that the All-Terrain model is planned for this generation of the C-Class (Mercedes W206). The reveal of the All-Terrain is likely during the second part of the year.

Our friends at TopElectricSUV.com created an interesting render to preview the design and styling of the Mercedes C-Class All-Terrain. It takes the direction of the E-Class All-Terrain and, sporting an exclusive dark green body colour that reflects the outdoorsy character, understandably as it is intended for camping and adventure holidays.

At the front of the car is a two-fin grille that is typical of Mercedes SUVs finished in silver. Also notably different is the unique bumper and shiny bumper protector and new air intakes. The body cladding extends to the sides, where the wheel arches are emphasized to give the body more robustness. The ground clearance is increased to give the car an all-road ability.

The Mercedes C-Class All-Terrain would play the role of C-Class wagon for the customer base that would like SUV traits in the car. The ruggedness and the extra ground clearance gives it mild off-road capabilities. The off-road chassis and different tires would give it the necessary armor to tackle mud and gravel, but it is no way intended for hardcore off-roading.

Interior changes to the C-Class All-Terrain would be minor, estricted to changes in the seat textile, and color of the stitching and door cards.

The Mercedes C-Class All-Terrain, like the donor, should be powered by electrified 2.0-liter engines, featuring 48 volt mild-hybrid technology in every specification. The variants may include a C 220 d with the 197 HP engine + 20 HP (ISG) and a C 300 d with 265 HP engine and 20 HP (ISG).
