Mercedes-Benz W108 With The Engine Of A Mercedes-AMG C 63

As timeless as it looks, even the Mercedes-Benz W108 needs a makeover from time to time. Sometimes, it needs a bit more. Or a lot. This particular luxury saloon rolled off the assembly line in 1968. Its heart was rusty and squeaky and needed a bit of refreshing as well. Therefore it received the engine of a 2017 Mercedes-AMG C 63 S W205.
 

Back when it came into the world, the W108 had, in its most potent version, a 4.5-liter V8 with 198 horsepower. a three-speed automatic gearbox delivered resources to the rear axle. It now comes with a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 instead and 510 horsepower. That is for the original C63 S. The tuner achieved more, 522 horsepower.
 
No word on performance, but the stock Mercedes-AMG C63 S runs from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 4.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 290 km/h.
 

The model still keeps its original bodywork with a shiny black finish and generous chrome detailing. There is chrome on the radiator grille, on the front and rear bumpers, around the headlights and surrounding the windows.
 
The classic also received new 19-inch 5-spoke wheels with AMG brake discs. The “S” logo showed up on the tailgate, as a hint that we’re dealing with quite a special model.

The interior, originally designed by the famous Paul Bracq, is even more striking than the exterior is. That underwent a transplant as well. Everything changed actually, as every single inch is from the right-hand-drive Mercedes-AMG C63 S as well. An Alcantara-wrapped sports steering wheel replaced the elegant original. Bucket seats and an infotainment screen found room inside as well.
