It’s been a very long time since we last heard anything about Vilner, and truth be told, we kind of forgot that this company exists. However, the Bulgarian tuner is back with a stunning project, more than two years after we last wrote about it, and this is something truly spectacular.

If you dig old Mercedes cars that were built like tanks and have aged like fine wine, you are going to adore this one, which is one black paint finish away from looking like a mafia-approved luxury sedan from several decades ago. The famous tuning house has breathed new life into this ride, both inside and out, and it is the cockpit that is truly spectacular. After all, this is what Vilner is famous for, in case you forgot.

First things first, we have to tell you that this is a W140 generation of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. This model came to life between 1991 and 1998 in a four-door configuration, with the coupe joining it on the same assembly line one year after production commenced. It is a full-size luxury car with a front-engine and rear-wheel drive layout that shares its nuts and bolts with the Maybach 57 and Maybach 62, and it packs a V12 engine under the hood.

Those who remember this model know that a 6.0-liter V12 was offered on the regular Benz, with the AMGs getting a 7.1- and a 7.3-liter V12. Leser versions packed a V8 and a straight-six, and the turbodiesel offering comprised two straight-six units. Depending on the configuration, the W140 Mercedes S-Class had a four-speed automatic, a five-speed automatic, or a five-speed manual transmission.

The pictured car has a completely revamped interior. The cockpit has been reupholstered in fine burgundy leather, which can be seen on the upper and lower sections of the dashboard panel, steering wheel, sun visors, door cards, center console, seats, and so on. The pillars and roof were wrapped in suede, which is presented in the same color. For some contrast, this machine has some special trim all around the cockpit and looks like it just rolled off the assembly line, even if that happened back in the ’90s.

Did you think that the cabin is the only strong point of this old timer? Well, it’s not, as the exterior also looks brand new. Here, it sports a white paint finish (wouldn’t it have looked perfect in black?), some chrome elements, and a set of shiny aftermarket wheels with extremely wide lips. The pictured Mercedes S-Class is an absolute work of art that will likely outlive anything in the three-pointed star brand’s new-age lineup, so we can only congratulate both the owner and the tuner for such a fine build.
