Even in the face of the relentless onslaught of the crossover, SUV, and truck empires, the passenger car sector is unwilling to go down without a fight despite years of stagnation and then a steady decline.

All-New Mercedes-AMG S 63 With Big GLS Also In Tow

That’s because some sectors are more robust than others – while the sports car category is becoming critically endangered, the sedan category is still alive and well. Contrary to the classic fable of the fish that rots from the head down, the automotive industry shows how the principle can be applied backward and in a positive manner: if you have great flagships, then good things will follow down the food chain.

Examples include the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class, as always – the former is wackier than ever but also beloved by customers for its excellent features and powerful engines (including electric ones), while the latter is a staple of tradition combined with modernity and classic style. Thus, it’s no wonder that even the members of the imaginative guild of digital car content creators, dwelling across the parallel universes of vehicular CGI, have numerous ideas regarding them.

For instance, the virtual automotive artist behind the “Evren Ozgun Spy Sketch” channel on YouTube has a ‘slightly’ different interpretation of the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and even of the Lexus LS in their latest behind-the-scenes making-of videos. The pixel master treated them separately, with the LS getting an ES-inspired makeover adapted to its poise and significance.

They also reworked the BMW 7 Series for the upcoming mid-cycle refresh (called LCI – Life Cycle Impulse over there in Bavaria) by removing the quirky split-headlight front fascia from the limousine. Now, it’s time to focus a little longer on the flagship members of the Mercedes-Benz family. The larger interest is probably due to the arrival of the GLC with EQ Technology and, especially, of the Vision Iconic concept GT.

So, the CGI expert first rendered the all-new W224 eighth-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which could arrive as early as next year, though only in Imagination Land, thanks to this unofficial, hypothetical design project. In the real world, we’re years away from that moment because the German luxury automaker hasn’t even revealed the mid-cycle refresh of the current W223 iteration.

Alas, that doesn’t matter much in Fantasy Land, and the author used the GLC with EQ Technology, along with the Vision Iconic, as primary sources of inspiration for an all-new, albeit fictional, generation. Now they’re tripling down on the Mercedes credo with another two models – the Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance variant and the big Mercedes-Benz GLS full-size crossover SUV sibling.

The S 63 is easy to recognize – it’s the same as the previous Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but with additional sporty trim, including a more dynamic bumper, some crimson inserts, and a subtle aerodynamic kit. We presume the next limousine will be a PHEV again, and the interior now features a pillar-to-pillar screen dashboard, similar to the one on the GLC with EQ Technology.

The proposed Mercedes-Benz GLS also follows suit with the illuminated chrome-pixel grille, which doesn’t look humongous or out of place on the hulking full-size crossover SUV. The flagship CUV also gains the same interior treatment, plus fresh headlights and new taillights featuring the three-pointed star LED DRL signature. So, what do you think? Should they do them like this or not?
