According to internal documents, Mercedes G-Class customers have to wait two years for their car. But other Mercedes models also have long delays in delivery, says the german magazine auto motor und sport. The reason is the lack of various raw materials.

Everyone is talking about the semiconductor crisis, but that’s not all. Other important raw materials such as aluminum and magnesium are also missing. Some sources who had access to internal Mercedes documents mention that the situation with deliveries is dramatic at Mercedes.

Depending on the model ordered, customers must wait up to two years. The longest delivery times, two years, are in case of the Mercedes G-Class and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

At first glance, the situation does not seem dramatic because these models have relatively small volumes and those who buy such cars have more cars in the garage and are not very pressed to have their car tomorrow. In addition, there are loyal customers who do not want to buy a rival model.

But delays have also begun to affect volume models and this situation will affect sales results. Whoever wants to buy the PHEV versions of CLA Coupe, CLA Shooting Brake or GLA has to wait until the second quarter of 2023, so about 1 year and a half.

Instead, the Mercedes EQA electric model can be delivered faster in the third quarter of 2022, ie after about 9 months.

It seems that the PHEV versions of GLC and GLC Coupe are no longer available. In fact, Mercedes will launch a new generation GLC in 2022 and customers will probably have to wait for the PHEV versions of the new generation.

Thus, the current generation GLC/GLC Coupe can only be bought with conventional engines. And in the case of A-Class there are delays in delivery until the summer of 2022.

According to an unofficial discussion with a dealer, he declared that the number of order cancellations has started to increase.

The GLE and GLS luxury SUVs produced at the plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA, are also delayed. They are available from the second and third quarters of 2022.

Mercedes declined to comment these rumours.
