It’s only been a few hours since Mercedes pulled the wraps off the latest iteration S-Class, which features a comprehensive makeover inside and out, and you definitely won’t mistake it for either of its iconic predecessors.

That’s because it features something that the older models do not have, and that’s a star-studded makeover for the front and rear lighting units. This is basically the biggest change on the outside, or the most instantly-recognizable one, anyway, whereas in the cabin, it is pretty much a screen fest. The usual wood trim made way for displays. There is a 12.3-inch screen in front of the passenger, a 14.4-inch infotainment system next to it, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
A new AI-infused virtual assistant is also on deck, and so is a rear-seat entertainment system with a pair of 13.1-inch screens. And don’t worry about the engine family, as there is a new flat-plane-crank V8 mill in the S 580 4Matic, which is a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 with mild-hybrid assistance that kicks out 533 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque and 530 hp (395 kW/537 ps). The S 450 comes with a 3.0L inline-six with 376 hp (280 kW/381 ps), and the S 500 brings more oomph, enjoying 443 hp (330 kW/449 ps).
A pair of diesel engines, with 3.0-liter displacements, is a thing in Europe, and they are rated at 309 hp (230 kW/313 ps) and 362 hp (270 kW/367 ps). PHEV fans can choose between the S 450 e and the S 580 e, with the former enjoying 429 hp (320 kW/435 ps) and the latter 577 hp (430 kW/585 ps). And you should know that only the S 500, the S 580, and the S 580 e PHEV are coming to our market when it comes to the refreshed Benz lineup of the S-Class flagship sedan.

Now, while only being a few hours old at this point, the 2027 Mercedes S-Class has already been visited by the tuning fairy, albeit in a fake way. What do we mean by that? That these images are actually renderings, and they came directly from @ildar_project on Instagram, who spent some time to rearrange some of the car’s pixels in order to make it look a bit more aggressive compared to the real thing.
The CGI-infused model has fat wheel arches, a redesigned front bumper that is also home to a chin spoiler, sportier side skirts, an aggressive diffuser, a ducktail spoiler, and four exhaust tips that definitely remind us of the upcoming AMG S 63 E Performance. The rendered car is entirely black and rides on a set of different wheels, and between us, I can see something like this with Brabus logos on it instead of the three-pointed star brand’s emblems. Can you?
