In celebration of 140 years since Carl Benz’s invention of the automobile in 1886, the new S-Class emerges as the ultimate icon. As the world’s best-selling luxury saloon, it is meticulously refined in every detail to ensure it remains the benchmark in its segment. More than just a flagship model, it embodies the essence of the brand: a pioneering spirit, engineering excellence and craftsmanship – and that unmistakable feeling of “Welcome home.”.

The latest evolution of the S-Class delivers its most extensive update in one generation, taking a leading role in the most ambitious product launch programme in Mercedes-Benz history. With more than 50 per cent of the S-Class – around 2,700 components – newly developed or re-engineered, it reaffirms a legacy of aspiration, engineering and digital ambition, and progress.

Sales launch and pricing of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class
From 30 January 2026, customers can configure and order the new S-Class online. The Mercedes-Benz S 350 d 4MATIC Saloon is available from a starting gross list price of €121,356.20 (incl. 19 % VAT). In addition, Mercedes-Benz offers attractive leasing and financing conditions, such as a monthly leasing rate from €1,020.00 (incl. 19 % VAT) for private customers. For business customers, the net entry price starts at €101,980.00 (excl. 19 % VAT).

Unparalleled: More S-Class than ever with a bolder, confident and individual appearance
The new S-Class asserts its status with a bolder silhouette and, for the first time, an illuminated grille, enlarged by around 20 per cent and accented with redesigned, three-dimensional chrome stars. For more than 100 years, the upright Mercedes star has symbolised brand heritage and pioneering spirit. Today, it enters a new era: for the first time, the star on the S-Class is optionally self-illuminated – unmistakable, it becomes part of the S-Class light signature and gives the vehicle a radiant presence at night. The contemporary light design radiates prestige at its most beautiful and transforms every arrival – whether at a grand event or simply returning home – into a memorable occasion.

The new DIGITAL LIGHT twin-star headlamp design not only creates an iconic look day and night, but also enhances visibility, helping drivers feel more confident on any road. At the rear, newly designed taillights with three chrome-framed signature stars reinforce the S-Class identity, ensuring a lasting impression. For added distinction, an integrated light projector in the side sill trim casts the “Mercedes-Benz” lettering as a lighting scheme next to the car, greeting passengers and turning every entry and exit into a special moment.

Smarter and new Digital Light for night driving
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class elevates visibility and safety with the new DIGITAL LIGHT system. Innovative micro-LED technology and a powerful new chip expand the high-resolution illumination field by approximately 40 per cent, delivering brighter high beams while reducing energy consumption, when compared with the predecessor system. Dynamic ULTRA RANGE high beam – with a reach of up to 600 metres, roughly six soccer fields – now swivels for optimal coverage, while its partial high-beam function improves detection of poorly lit road users without dazzling others. Combined with camera data and map intelligence, cornering light adapts more precisely to road layouts – all powered by in-house software integrated into the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) for faster adaptation. From the candlelit lanterns on Gottlieb Daimler’s Motor Carriage in 1886 to today’s DIGITAL LIGHT with projection function, Mercedes-Benz has illuminated every era of automotive history – and in the new S-Class, this expertise turns the night into an intelligent layer of safety and comfort.

Personalised: Endless MANUFAKTUR possibilities for a unique S-Class
The MANUFAKTUR programme delivers an unparalleled level of personalisation, offering exclusive paint finishes, luxurious leather packages and exquisite handcrafted details. Two new MANUFAKTUR shades are now available as standard colours: MANUFAKTUR black sparkling, featuring genuine glass flakes for a striking shimmer, and MANUFAKTUR verdesilver magno, introducing a sophisticated matte finish to the popular verdesilver tone.

For those seeking ultimate individuality, the newly launched MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure programme enables customers to create a truly individual vehicle. With MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure, customers can choose from more than 150 paint colours and over 400 interior colours for the new S-Class. Additional equipment choices include illuminated door sills with brand lettering, steering-wheel variants and emblem packages. It offers a broad selection of pre-approved options with fixed pricing and instant feasibility confirmation – and even enables customers to explore the full spectrum of technically achievable colours, providing unmatched customisation options for both exterior and interior designs. Requests that extend beyond this portfolio are evaluated individually by the MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure experts during a personalised consultation, either at the Center of Excellence in Sindelfingen or at a location of the customer’s choice. The personalised vehicle is brought to life through an immersive visualisation tool, enabling customers to select colours and design elements that reflect their individual taste.

Intuitive: A new digital S-Class experience powered by MB.OS
The new S-Class brings the latest Mercedes-Benz technology to centre stage. At its core is the purpose-built Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which comes with a new service-oriented electrical and electronic architecture. This supercomputer powers every domain – from assistance to infotainment to driving performance – delivering faster processing, greater computing power and a deeply integrated experience. MB.OS connects all systems into one intelligent ecosystem and is the base for MB.DRIVE and MBUX. Its connection to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud enables over-the-air updates for numerous vehicle functions, keeping the S-Class digitally up to date and attractive throughout its life. The result: the new S-Class becomes an intuitive companion, delivering seamless interaction, exceptional performance, and future-ready intelligence for every passenger – creating a driving experience that is smarter, safer and more personal than ever before.

MB.DRIVE: High-performance computing for state-of-the-art driving and parking assistance systems
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class models are equipped with a water-cooled supercomputer, providing sufficient power reserves for future functions. To provide top-tier driving assistance, every model comes equipped with a wide array of sensors: ten external cameras, five radar sensors and twelve ultrasonic sensors. These sensors work in conjunction with a high-performance control unit running on MB.OS. Artificial intelligence algorithms, which are trained on large amounts of fleet data, process the sensor data to understand the surrounding traffic conditions.

Standard equipment includes MB.DRIVE ASSIST, with features such as Distance Assist DISTRONIC with Steering Assist and Lane Change Assist. Evasive Steering Function Plus autonomously steers around objects or other vehicles to prevent collisions within the vehicle’s own lane. For enhanced highway support, Proactive Lane Change Assist offers automated lane changes. Additionally, MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO includes enhanced assistance functions such as automated braking at stop signs and on traffic lights. While the different functions will be available either as a factory-fitted optional extra or as a Digital Extra via the Mercedes-Benz Store, their availability is also depending on the market.

MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO enables a seamless and safe point-to-point driving experience – even in dense urban traffic. Available in China with the market start, the offering in the U.S. will follow a bit later, while other markets, such as Europe, will get the equipment once regulations permit.

MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST detects parking spaces on both sides of the vehicle at a particularly early point and enables angled parking for the first time. It also recognises spaces not marked solely by white lines. Notably, the car can now assist in exiting a parking space, even after a manual parking manoeuvre. In addition, the system can park fast, adding significant value for customers. First in China, the Reverse manoeuvring function will be available. Under certain conditions, this assistance system enables the vehicle to precisely retrace its path when reversing. While this assistant is active, the image from the reversing camera and a graphic representation of the planned path are displayed on the main screen. This is particularly useful in traffic situations where a turning manoeuvre is not possible.

MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST 360 delivers new and enhanced surround-view displays with its 360-degree camera and a new-look UI. When manoeuvring, this will show a distance warning to help the driver avoid damage to the rims. The Visual Rim Protection warning will be available later in the new S-Class.

Introduction of the fourth MBUX generation in the S-Class: Exceptionally intuitive and personalised with artificial intelligence
Powered by MB.OS, the fourth generation of MBUX comes to the S-Class. It comes with AI from ChatGPT4o and Microsoft Bing as well as Google Gemini, combining multiple AI agents in one system. With that, the new MBUX Virtual Assistant “Hey Mercedes” revolutionises the relationship between the vehicle and the passengers in every seat. Customers experience a more intuitive, more personal digital companion with generative AI, multi-turn dialogues one might have with a friend and short-term memory. The MBUX Virtual Assistant appears as a living avatar on the Zero Layer, featuring dynamic colours and animations, along with two new avatar designs: a human-like figure and “LittleBenz” for enhanced emotional connection.

The interface now features an enhanced MBUX Zero Layer, displaying recently used apps, customisable folders and intuitive swipe navigation for effortless control and ease of use. More than 40 apps can be installed across categories such as audio, video, productivity and entertainment – with the portfolio continuously expanding.

MBUX Superscreen: Immersive clarity for the driver, personalised entertainment for the front passenger
A new display concept: as standard, the MBUX Superscreen unites the 14.4-inch central display and the 12.3-inch passenger display beneath a continuous glass surface, creating a sculptural visual unit. While the driver benefits from clear, focused information, the front passenger can enjoy a personalised entertainment experience – such as streaming, gaming or apps – even while the vehicle is in motion, in line with country-specific regulations. A camera-based privacy function subtly adapts the passenger screen to minimise distraction for the driver. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, optionally available in 3D, appears to float behind the wheel with striking clarity. Curated high-resolution ambient styles and visual modes by Mercedes-Benz UI designers transform the MBUX Superscreen into an immersive, atmospheric digital space that enhances every journey.

Navigate with confidence: Intelligent MBUX Surround Navigation based on Google Maps and MBUX Augmented Reality Head-up Display
In the new S-Class, MB.OS enables a navigation experience based on Google Maps. The navigation solution developed as part of the partnership between Google and Mercedes-Benz is additionally one of the first integrations of Google Cloud’s new Automotive AI Agent for in-vehicle conversation services with Google Maps. Integrated visual guidance also reaches a new dimension with MBUX Surround Navigation. It seamlessly integrates the driver-assistance view with a 3D representation of the surroundings around the S-Class, providing real-time routing on the driver’s display. Drivers benefit from improved situational awareness, seeing what the S-Class sees and how the assistance systems support them, so every drive feels informed, supported, and sublime. This is complemented by the MBUX Augmented Reality Head-up Display, which projects key guidance cues such as arrows, lane recommendations and points of interest seemingly onto the road ahead. This intuitive visual support helps drivers anticipate complex manoeuvres with ease, enhancing confidence and comfort – particularly in unfamiliar cities or dense urban traffic.

Ideas, organised: Productivity redefined
MBUX Notes and MBUX Calendar take productivity on the move to a new level. Imagine preparing for an important meeting while en route: simply dictate your thoughts hands-free in multiple languages, and MBUX Notes – powered by AI – summarises and structures them into clear bullet points. Your ideas can then be shared via Gmail or Outlook, or synced to OneNote for further editing. With strong data protection and no permanent storage by third parties, your notes remain secure while you stay organised and ready.

First-class comfort and calm in every seat: Refined interior comfort
In the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, every journey becomes an experience of first-class comfort and serene elegance. “Welcome home.” is made tangible in every detail, as Mercedes-Benz has refined the interior in numerous areas to create a space where technology and craftsmanship meet. The redesigned instrument panel, featuring the new MBUX Superscreen, integrates seamlessly into the cockpit. New elegant door trims and a reimagined centre console showcase exquisite wood inlays and combine the finest materials with an ergonomic design. The console features new illuminated cup holders and easily accessible mobile phone compartments, allowing for the wireless charging of two smartphones side by side within the reach of both the driver and the front passenger. In addition, cable-based USB-C charging with power delivery of up to 100 W ensures fast and convenient charging options for all occupants.

The new multifunction steering wheel offers improved ergonomics and intuitive operation. Mercedes-Benz has reintroduced the control concept, featuring rocker switches for the limiter and DISTRONIC as well as a roller for volume control, in response to customer feedback. The capacitive switch panels are seamlessly integrated and provide tactile aids for better orientation.

Rear-seat excellence: From business lounge to first-class productivity and entertainment
In the new S-Class, rear-seat excellence is a given in both wheelbase variants. Customers can choose between a more dynamic silhouette and a long-wheelbase model with even more expansive rear-seat space. At its pinnacle, the four-seat First-Class rear compartment in the long-wheelbase model turns the rear of the S-Class into a business lounge. The full-length rear centre console discreetly keeps everything within easy reach: concealed storage with wireless and fast-charging USB-C ports for mobile devices, plus a refrigerated compartment plus temperature-controlled cupholders. Folding tables create a comfortable space for working on a laptop, signing documents or enjoying a quiet meal on the move. Those who prefer to travel in the rear can also choose from new trim finishes for the rear centre console, adding a further touch of personal exclusivity.

Always in reach: the two new detachable MBUX remote controls in the rear provide effortless operation of vehicle functions such as climate control and window shades, as well as the larger 13.1-inch displays of the MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment System. These screens also feature integrated HD cameras, making them ideal for business video conferencing with Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Webex, allowing occupants to join a video meeting and stay productive whilst travelling in style.

Whether in front or rear, the continuously expanding app portfolio now includes video streaming platforms such as Disney+ and RIDEVU by Sony Pictures Entertainment. In the new S-Class, entertainment becomes effortless: imagine reclining in the rear seat after a long day, enjoying a cinematic escape. Families can keep children engaged with animated favourites, while business travellers unwind with premium originals or leading news outlets. Integrated into the MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment system, streaming feels natural and immersive, turning every journey into a personalised first-class experience.

For the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, customers can choose between two optional Burmester® surround sound systems: the Burmester® 3D surround sound system, now significantly enhanced with elegant silver speaker caps in the mirror triangle, and the Burmester® high-end 4D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos® – both transforming the interior into an immersive sound experience you can both hear and feel.

First-class thermal comfort and cleaner air for every journey with a new electric filter
A highlight of the latest thermal comfort package is the innovative heated seat belt. With a soothing warmth of up to 44°C, it delivers a gentle, reassuring embrace for front passengers – transforming cold mornings into moments of pure comfort. This innovation enhances well-being on every journey and adds a subtle touch of indulgence in cold weather. Conveniently activated via the seat heating button, this subtle innovation encourages the removal of bulky jackets for optimal belt fit and enhanced safety. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference, ensuring every journey begins with a sense of well-being.

The S-Class also takes a significant step forward in climate comfort with new Digital Vent Control and an advanced electric filter. Elegantly illuminated optional air vents automatically adjust to the selected ventilation scenario, while the new electric filter ionises and removes even extremely fine particles, up to 1,200 times smaller than a single grain of table salt. This enables the cabin air to be purified roughly every 90 seconds creating a consistently cleaner environment for all occupants.

The S-Class debuts a new 20″ multi-spoke wheel produced with innovative high-pressure casting for unmatched precision and design
Crafted using innovative high-pressure casting technology, this multi-spoke wheel delivers sharper contours, reduced thickness and a striking 50-cross-spoke design – perfectly complementing the refined elegance of the new S-Class. Finished in Tremolit Metallic High Sheen, it’s a distinctive option for those who demand individuality and timeless style.

Unparalleled protection, refined: The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class GUARD with VR10, the highest civilian protection level
For almost 100 years, heads of state, business leaders and members of royal families have stepped into a Mercedes-Benz special-protection vehicle with one expectation: to be as safe as possible – and yet to feel entirely at ease. As the home of protection in the Mercedes-Benz portfolio, the new Mercedes-Benz S 680 GUARD 4MATIC combines the in-house developed Integrated Protection System (iSS) with a discreet aluminium outer skin to achieve certified VR10, the highest civilian protection level, validated with biofidelic dummy testing and top scores. The S-Class GUARD is currently the only series-production limousine to offer certified VR10 ballistic protection for both transparent (glass) and opaque body areas (chassis) ex factory. As the first GUARD saloon with 4MATIC and a 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine, it delivers effortless, confident performance. Inside, a highly customisable rear compartment and the MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment, featuring productivity features such as seamless video conferencing, turn the vehicle into a secure, fully connected business lounge. GUARD specific systems – including fire extinguishing and emergency fresh-air systems, the Threat Alarm System, external communication and servo-assisted doors – support safe everyday use. At the same time, a broad range of options and bespoke solutions allow the S 680 GUARD 4MATIC to be configured precisely for government duties and other highly specialised roles.

Sublime driving quality: Precision, comfort and safety every mile of the way
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class combines effortless performance with hallmark tranquillity and assurance, thanks to a refined range of electrified powertrains. From 8- and 6-cylinder engines to 6-cylinder diesel engines and a plug-in hybrid15F, customers can choose from a wide variety of options – and every one of them contributes to the signature sublime smoothness that defines the S-Class experience.

At its peak, the new eight-cylinder engine (M 177 Evo) in the Mercedes-Benz S 580 4MATIC Saloon long version delivers 395 kW (537 hp) and 750 Nm of torque. Engineering upgrades and mild-hybrid technology support seamless power delivery, energy recuperation and exceptional smoothness, while meeting the latest.

emissions standards and ensuring a tranquil cabin experience. Thanks to a refined injection system, optimised intake and exhaust ports, a revised intake camshaft, a flat-plane crank with a new firing order and improvements to the compressor wheel and turbocharger housing, the V8 now responds more quickly and efficiently and delivers an even more refined driving experience.

The six-cylinder petrol engine (M 256 Evo) in the Mercedes-Benz S 450 4MATIC Saloon long version and Mercedes-Benz S 500 4MATIC Saloon long version now responds even more dynamically, with torque increased up to 600 Nm; and up to 640 Nm using overtorque. Overtorque means a short-term increase in torque value to provide the S-Class with more tractive force in certain driving situations, like overtaking or acceleration. Key improvements include a more powerful electric auxiliary compressor, optimised intake and exhaust ports, and a revised intake camshaft. Enhanced insulation measures provide superior noise and vibration damping, creating an exceptionally calm ambience at any speed.

The plug-in hybrid option with an electric range of around 100 km combines this upgraded six-cylinder engine with a powerful electric motor, increasing system output by up to 55 kW over the previous engine generation and delivering an even smoother and more responsive drive in the Mercedes-Benz S 580 e 4MATIC Saloon long version with EQ Hybrid Technology and Mercedes-Benz S 450 e Saloon long version with EQ Hybrid Technology. Petrol particulate filters and pressurised tanks are now standard worldwide, underscoring the commitment to efficiency and refinement. Together, these powertrains deliver the perfect balance of strength, composure and innovation – ensuring the new S-Class remains the ultimate expression of driving confidence and long-distance comfort.

For those who prefer diesel power, the Mercedes-Benz S 350 d 4MATIC Saloon long version and Mercedes-Benz S 450 d 4MATIC Saloon long version feature the new six-cylinder OM 656 Evo. Developed to meet future emissions legislation, it introduces the first series-production use of an electrically heated catalytic converter for faster and more efficient exhaust aftertreatment. Robustness improvements in exhaust gas recirculation, cooling and crankcase ventilation further enhance durability and efficiency.

All three engines feature a 17 kW integrated starter-generator (ISG). The integrated starter-generator, available with both petrol and diesel engines, provides intelligent support in the low-rpm range. In combination with turbocharging, this ensures excellent power delivery. The system includes the 48-volt electrical system, which enables functions such as “coasting”, boost or recuperation and thus significant fuel savings. In addition, the engines start very quickly and comfortably with the help of the ISG, so that the start-stop function is almost imperceptible to the driver, as is the transition from “coasting” with the engine stationary to powerful propulsion with engine power. When idling, the intelligent interaction between the ISG and the combustion engine ensures outstandingly smooth running.

Sublime ride in every condition with intelligent damping and effortless manoeuvrability
Imagine gliding through the city or cruising along winding country roads – every journey in the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is defined by benchmark quietness, refined comfort and effortless composure. This is made possible by the standard AIRMATIC air suspension or the optional E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL. Both systems now feature intelligent damping, a sophisticated innovation that enhances comfort by electrically adjusting the damping system right before long speed bumps, which are particularly common in southern Europe and the USA. The system differentiates between short, sharp road irregularities such as potholes – which are detected and communicated as warnings – and longer speed bumps that induce vertical body movement, where proactive damping adjustment can measurably enhance comfort. Now also available for the S-Class suspension systems, this intelligent damper regulation works in combination with AIRMATIC and E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL, using Car-to-X information from other Mercedes-Benz vehicles via the Mercedes Intelligent Cloud. Mercedes-Benz has already applied for a patent for this in-house-developed function.

Rear-axle steering – now standard with 4.5° and optionally offering up to 10° of steering angle – further enhances agility and control. In the 10° configuration with the long-wheelbase S-Class, it reduces the turning circle by almost two metres, making everyday situations noticeably easier: effortlessly slipping into a tight parking space, navigating a narrow hotel driveway or turning confidently in a crowded city centre. At higher speeds, the rear wheels steer in parallel with the front wheels to deliver reassuring stability and calm composure.

Safety as a hallmark: Intelligent protection for every seat
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has consistently been at the forefront in terms of safety. From crumple zones, ABS and ESP® to today’s intelligent MB.DRIVE suite and restraint systems. The S-Class is the spearhead of this philosophy. The new S-Class protects occupants and other road users with state-of-the-art safety systems, setting a hallmark for automotive safety. Its enhanced adaptive restraint system includes PRE-SAFE® Impulse seat belt pretensioners, dual-stage load limiters, advanced airbag inflators and an active vent in the passenger airbag. A passenger kneebag and optional rear airbags for a frontal impact expand protection to a global standard of up to 15 airbags, intelligently deployed by an airbag control unit that calculates the most beneficial response in every situation.

Rear passengers benefit from innovative beltbags that inflate during severe frontal impacts to reduce chest loads, while rear airbags can deploy to reduce loads on head and neck. PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side in the front row activates before a side impact to optimise occupant positioning, and models equipped with E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL can elevate the vehicle to distribute crash forces more effectively. Every detail – from restraint systems to intelligent deployment-underscores the S-Class commitment to uncompromising safety for all.
