Feel good and make it count, today with our HG63. Exterior in Obsidian Black, finished with beautiful chrome details. Interior equipped with our Luxury Leather in Arancia Leonis Orange, made with precision and attention to details.
If there’s one thing that the new generation Mercedes G-Wagen misses out on, it is a Maybach derivative – well, that and a 6×6 variant. And since the three-pointed star wouldn’t give it the posher treatment, Hofele has.
Meet the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Coach Door Edition, or as the tuner calls it, the HG63. It features a black finish with a few chrome details all around, has a different grille, and a few other bits and bobs. As for the feature that truly makes it shine, it is the suicide rear door opening, with the hinges moved from the B- to the C-pillars in a Rolls-Royce-like manner.
Once inside, you will be greeted by lots of orange. This lively hue dominates the cockpit. It can be seen on the seats, door cards, steering wheel, dashboard panel, pillars, headliner, etc. The metal trim and the occasional black accents provide some contrast. To further elevate its premium feel, Hofele has given it individual rear seats, separated by a console.
Are you curious about what lies under the hood? So are we. However, the tuner hasn’t released any technical details about the HG63. As a result, we can assume it is the stock 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8. The engine produces 577 horsepower (585 ps/430 kW) and 627 pound-foot (850 Nm) of torque without outside intervention. The G 63 has a maximum speed of 137 mph (220 kph) and can push to 62 mph (100 kph) in 4.5 seconds.
Images of this build were shared by Hofele on social media earlier this week, and some of you may feel like you’ve seen it before. You are certainly not wrong, as we first wrote about it over a year ago. And since it is such an interesting project, we decided not to ignore these pics and build a fresh story on them. After all, it’s not every day that we come across a G-Wagen with coach doors.
As you likely know, we’re not necessarily fans of flashy rides, and this G 63 stands out even more due to its exterior makeover, 24-inch alloys, orange leather and Alcantara upholstery, and suicide rear doors. However, we could make an exception for it, as it is truly a head-turning machine and a conversation starter whenever its users open the rear doors.
This would be the part where we would normally tell you how much it costs. However, we don’t think it is for sale, or Hofele would have said something about it in the Instagram post embedded below. Therefore, it might simply be a demo car used for advertising, but fret not, as we are certain the tuner could do something similar (or perhaps identical) to your G 63. So, would you want that?
