Mercedes-AMG E 53 with new wheels and new taillights, is it better?

Last year, Mercedes-Benz USA, the North American arm of the premium German automaker, announced that everything is rosy in America again – 324,528 deliveries equaled a nine percent jump in sales for 2024.

In 2023, the company was below the 300k threshold, and the surge is very important because it has risen above the market average by quite a good deal. Alas, 324k out of around 16 million is not exactly something glorious, and while Mercedes-Benz was above other luxury brands like Volvo (125k) or Audi of America (196k, down 14%), the ardent rivals from BMW AG still travel ahead with BMW of North America surging 2.5% to over 371k units.

All of them were sanely beaten by niche carmakers that aren’t even premium to begin with – Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) reported full-year sales of no less than 424,382 vehicles, a jump of almost 17% compared to 2023, and Subaru of America laughs at all of these premium brands with 29 consecutive months of sales gains and a rise in 2024 of 5.6% to no less than 667,725 deliveries. So, what can be done for Mercedes-Benz to further lift their gains?

That’s on top of their 2025 model year highlights, which include no less than twelve additions to the roster like the new Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e 4Matic plug-in hybrid and GLC 63 S E Performance SUV and Coupe, or the new Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet, plus the new G-Class featuring the G 550, all-new G 63, plus the first-ever all-electric G 580 with EQ Technology. Anyway, suppose you ask a member of the imaginative guild of digital car content creators dwelling across the parallel universes of vehicular CGI. In that case, there is one Mercedes-Benz model that is worthy of our attention in particular.

Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, thinks that now is the right CGI time to work on the 2025 Mercedes-AMG E 53, which is now a Hybrid model starting from $89k, packing a 3.0-liter inline-six turbo mill with a 120-kW permanently synchronous electric motor to output a total of 577 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, or as much as a regular 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 model. The new AMG E 53 Hybrid can also sprint to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds while the city fuel economy is rated at 54 MPGe, and the highway rating is no less than 65 MPGe on top of an all-electric range of 42 miles on a charge.

Anyway, the pixel master felt that Mercedes-AMG could give it a nip and tuck along with a fresh set of aftermarket wheels that are larger than the staggered 20-inch AMG set with 265/40R20 front and 295/35R20 rear summer tires. His CGI ones are probably 22s, and the CGI expert also felt that the cheesy starry LED taillights had to go away in favor of more traditional ones. So, what do you think?
