2023 Mercedes-AMG C 43 Better Than Ever With F1 Electric Tech

Fan favorite but better
On Tuesday, Mercedes-AMG released multiple meaningful updates to its C43. Though the entry-level Mercedes-AMG C-Class has been a fan favorite from day one, this year’s model looks to improve upon everything beloved about the now-outgoing version.

Less is more
One major change to the 2023 C43 is the drivetrain. Mercedes-AMG nixed two cylinders and one liter compared to the previous version, but the new 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder engine is actually more powerful. The engine produces 402 horsepower at 6,750 rpm. If those numbers aren’t sufficient proof, the engine also puts out 369 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm.

The F1 factor
Another factor behind the performance improvements? Formula 1-derived technology. Recognizing the remarkable technology, Mercedes-AMG incorporated the electric exhaust gas turbocharger seen in its Formula 1 cars for the 2023 C43.

Unhindered power
By integrating the F1 technology, Mercedes-AMG ensured what the C43 gained in a turbo wouldn’t be lost in reactivity. The responsiveness of power delivery isn’t hindered because the electric turbo has an electric motor. That addition spins the turbocharger’s exhaust gas impeller at high speed (compared to an impeller requiring exhaust energy alone to achieve speed).

But wait; there’s more
Mercedes-AMG’s changes weren’t limited to under the hood. Improvements reminiscent of its S-Class were made to the C-Class cabin. Mercedes-AMG is known for its sporty interior inclusions to satisfy customers and provide maximum comfort. Those inclusions weren’t left out in the 2023 C43.

Dynamic driving guaranteed
The model’s performance seats have contoured side bolsters on both the seat cushions and backrests, offering better lateral support. Dynamic driving is all but guaranteed, thanks to adjustable seat cushion depth and a taller seat height for the ultimate leg angle while driving.

Comfortable cockpit
The classic spoke-like steering wheel has been upholstered in smooth black leather. The interior also features a center infotainment screen, new at 11.9 inches, and a free-standing 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.

New year, new wheels
Enthusiasts will love the stunning new wheel package. Diamond-cut and detailed to frame the vehicle’s brakes, they are reportedly incredible. The 2023 Mercedes-AMG C43 is on track to arrive at dealers later this year.
